So, let's talk aiming habits

(capriRocket) #41

oh then i misunderstood something. good news! thanks

(Ghosthree3) #42

This I did not know, and I’ve watched like 3 different videos on the driver. Running in test mode myself, not a big bother since all it means is I have a watermark on a desktop I never see.

Are you sure it works if you boot again normally though? I once tested installing with test mode on then rebooting with it off and my mouse refused to work until I used my keyboard to reenable it and reboot again.

(PurpleNurple) #43

I just use default with the zowie fk 2. I don’t know why but by aiming got rediculously better when I ditched my death adder. I use a big ass mouse pad and keep my fat arm still while using my thumb and index finger to move the mouse. (I think. I’m at work pretending my phone is a mouse.)

(Gi.Am) #44

@Ghosthree3 its persistent tested it. The thing is with testmode I have no idea what else it opens up on the system. While with the other method you are simply telling windows to look the other way while you install the unsigned driver and after a restart system is as secure as usual.

(Ghosthree3) #45

Hm, may have to reinstall it to try it out then. Gotta figure out how to reboot into that mode first though. Cannot for the life of me find the F key to boot safe mode, I’ve been using msconfig to set safe mode on reboot.

EDIT: I looked into it a little bit and everything says that you have to boot with Disable Driver Signature mode every time you boot. So I’m not gonna bother. Also I can’t find any down sides to test mode so meh.

(Gi.Am) #46

Not sure what you where looking up? I did what was described here. Worked like a charm. Only needed to do it before installing. Drivers installed this way stay active after reboot. You only need to boot this way again if you need to install another unsigned driver.

(Ghosthree3) #47

Oh maybe it changed in 10, the articles I was looking at were either 7 or 8 based.

EDIT: Did you read the replies,

It did work once for me. But after rebooting the drivers will not be allowed load again.
There must be a way to permanently allow a unsigned driver.
As it stands now you have go through all those 9 steps and do an extra restart. Every time you start or reboot the computer.

Are you sure it’s working for you and it’s not falling back on other drivers? Try ramping accel up to 100 and hitting save and see if it makes your cursor spastic. (I hope you know how to use the keyboard to change it back).

(Gi.Am) #48

Ok this is stupid. It did work, I installed it 2 days ago. played one with only the angle snapping, started dialing in acc. the next day. Played with it fine till today afternoon. So it was definitive persistent. But today came an windows update, and after the restart of it no more. Tried deinstalling installing a couple of times but now it is indeed gone after a restart.

Anyways not gonna bother for now back to default.

oh btw. yeah read the comment kinda funny its only one guy and he tries to install drivers for a ati switchable 4000 mobile series coincidential I have a tablet pc with that gpu setup and the support is non existent past win xp tablet edition / vista. only old or 3rd party drivers and half the feat. don’t work.
So yeah despite my problems I’d take that comment with a grain of salt, usually that option should be persistent.

(Ghosthree3) #49

Yeah I dunno, could work, I’ll take your word for it. Happy to sit in test mode.

EDIT: Btw did you do the change that lets it be used as well as manufacturer drivers? I did, may or may not make a difference.

Using unsigned low level drivers. Ballsy.

(Ghosthree3) #51

I like to live dangerously.

They want to get it signed now that 10 is out btw. Gonna throw in some money to have it done since apparently the reason it wasn’t is because of some yearly rate the author couldn’t be fucked paying or something.

(Jurmabones) #52

Why do people ever use mouse accel for fps?

(Vampwood) #53

The ability to keep low sens for tracking and still be able to twitch shot.

(Gi.Am) #54

Interesting never tried that, might look into it some day. Or I wait till they get a certificate would be awesome.

@Jurmabones I guess some are simply used to it since they had some form of accel. from the beginning and thats how they expect things to be.
Considering that I’m not one of them, but hail from the religion of only good accel. is no accel. I have other reasons:

Simply put DB demands a very wide range of movement. On one hand you need to do alot of small step aim adjustments, on the other hand you need to do very fast turns while getting through the map and in CQC.
For me personal I am bumping into limitations. Its either lower the sense down to be accurate, but then do alot of arm moving and displacing the mouse, or have high sense which allows those turns with one short swipe, but then the overshooting becomes too much when it comes to tracking.

I can set a middle ground sens (and infact I’m running that right now), but accel (especially one that can be tuned like the QL accel driver) basically allows you to play with low sense while doing slower precision movements and when you swipe fast moves with high sense covering more ground.

  1. 3.0
  2. 800 DPI, mouse is Trust GXT 25 (cheap, nothing too special, but it’s better than nothing)
  3. I just move the wrist
  4. Rest elbow on desk
  5. No mousepad (tried using expensive ones, didn’t really seem to make a difference, a smooth desk is more than enough)

Regular Y-Axis and claw

I call this, the poor lazy man’s setup. And I’m perfectly fine with it. Again, setup might SLIGHTLY improve your aim, but I just find practice the best way to improve rather than spending too much time on finding the perfect setup.

(o_HOTHEAD_o) #56
  1. 14 ( 7.5cm/360)
  2. 1600 DPI (Zowie FK 1)
  3. Wrist is planted nothing moves but hand.
  4. If I had a rest I would
  5. I use the extended razer goliathus, but don’t utilize the size

(yusayu) #57
  1. 4
  2. 900/1000/razor naga hex
  3. depends on how tired i am, the more tired the less of my arm i move
  4. Desk, i dont have a chair with an armrest
  5. No mousepad, just a plain, while desk. I have a mousepad somewhere but it bugged the mouse and the plain desk works perfectly.

Oh and guys, ffs, use raw input, please

at least not compared to the Razer Goliathus, which was soft and almost silky

I have a razor goliathus but for some reason my naga doesnt like it at all, it keeps doing weird things when i use the mousepad, and only then.

@Mercy That aspect ratio change increased my k/d average per game 1.0. I thank you sir. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

(Ghosthree3) #59

You are aware that 1280x720 is native to 16:9 ratio just like 1920x1080 right. No stretching would occur.

(Verticules) #60

I changed the aspect ratio, glad I didn’t notice he didn’t.
