I have about 215 hours into dirty bomb and im gold 1 and i have had over 8 reported cases where people have told me they reported my steam profile because “Proxy cant tank that much this kid is using god mode” when in reality my and my friend run proxy, sawbones
So... is this cheater thing somewhat overblown?
I’ve only seen two confirmed ones but I don’t play competitive very often. (…)

Where can we see if a player is a confirmed cheater? confirmed by whom?
In my 100 hours, almost every evening/night since some weeks I met some suspicious player.
Suspicious because of knowing every position AND many head shots, but only sometimes with unbelievable K/D.
The game is very fast, therefore also cheater are killed more often than in other games.
And the speed makes it difficult to identify cheater in game. I record suspicious player, watch the video for some minutes, count all kills and head shots. Then I decide wether to report or not.
Most player I didn’t report, 3 were reported, 1 of them used the Sniper, 95 % head shot ratio with the sniper rifle and 100 % head shot ratio with his secondary weapon within 10 minutes.
Why do I waste my time for that? Because I HATE all the ******* cheater scum.
Pretty simple, it would seem to be about 1-2 cheaters in most lobbys I join. For those stating you don’t see them in casual, I don’t think you know what to look for (prefire, snap-to,etc). In fact today I got a rarity which is a cheater actually admitting he was using it and stating that there was little to no anticheat and that they wouldn’t ban him even if I reported him. You know what, he’s right sadly lol. Not much to do really.
And when talking about cheaters there are many facets of cheating, it’s not all aimbots and someone going full out ham on headshots. There are tons and tons of ESP’ers in every FPS, they are extremely hard to spot but as of late they are being extremely idiotic with their prefire on spectate.
Until this company does something about them (and god I hope it’s a silent anticheat then massive banwave to demonstrate the massive numbers actually cheating atm) there is nothing to be done.

Ok so not 100% confirmed but one guy’s name even blatantly suggested that they were hacking and they were holding back the whole other team with instant headshots using an smg, they finished with 123/5. So I can’t say for sure but I’m pretty certain.
The other one admitted they were cheating in the chat and gave the address of a site that provided the hack.
just got out of a game where one sniper was head shotting people as they came around corners. Not an issue, but he was head shotting and getting over half the kills on his team.
I was able to sneak up behind him twice. Both times I landed a shot and he instantly jumped and headshot me while in the air with the sniper rifle.
Once can be considered luck, but twice, that’s not luck.
Cheating is out of hand and this game is already becoming a joke with cheaters.
Even though it is somewhat scarce cheating is definitely a growing problem, as the game grows the number of people who are the type of person to cheat grows, you will get cheaters transitioning from CSGO Battlefield and COD to dirty bomb and continuing their habits. If you type dirty bomb into google the first 3 suggested searches are all to do with cheating.
At the moment cheating is a bit of a small non-problem but given time it will grow and fester into a disgusting situation like that of CS:GO

Also, tonight, I had 5 people on a server convinced I was cheating…with Arty (the F??). The paranoia of people cheating is pretty high right now.
well this has always been the problem, perception matters a lot more than reality, this is why SD’s total silence and lack of action is such a bad thing , you may recall my post when i quit playing over this situation (you closed it and i saw your point and didnt mind) but that final straw was running into the guy i reported first , now this was a no doubt case, he was full on instant headshotting everyone like bot on max, he was also admitting in chat laughing at sd for doing nothing and spamming the url to buy it. well 6 weeks later i run into the guy again and rage out
added in i think people are (very slowly) realising you simply can not tell a well set up bot by spectating these days, there too well built seriously have you looked into the ones out there and the parameters you can set up? with smooth aiming limiting it to body shots and keeping the angle down low they look just like a skilled player.
now i saw a total of 5 definite no argument bots over 160 hours in game. but having watched a well set up bot on youtube and the dirty cups competition thats meant to feature some of the better players. the sheer volume of people you run into in game that make them look frankly amateurish is an odd thing. then theres the hackers website which a simple two word google search will bring you to , it looks like a well maintained professional site they have proper payment methods and seem to be a real company from the limited digging i can do , they must have a edcent revenue. so people must be buying it.
so are those 5 i can be sure about all i have ever met? or are half of those good players i see in every game using a bot to some degree? and im seeing 2 in every game?
thats the thing i cant tell or know. so how can i have any confidence in it given the other anecdotal evidence.
Total silence? They have been talking about what they are doing for quite a while now and on Reddit in the last day or two they specifically said what they were doing and where they were at. Do not mistake you not keeping up on current affairs with total silence.
Paranoia is just as poisonous as actual cheating. People who don’t know better accusing somebody who isn’t cheating is just as bad as somebody actually cheating as it results in the same mental state. Luckily, the solution to both (within reasons) is the same thing…fix the AC and do more + be transparent. All of those things are happening. Just people need to realize it takes time.
110 hrs in now and maybe 25 match making games in. I’ve seen only 2 hackers hacking hard enough (the same game) to spawncamp us. Seen like 3 more toggling trying to hide it but thats it. Only about 3 hardcore aimbotters in pubs but havn’t noticed anything beyond that. So thats one every 18 hours? I would say that is too much personally so it is an issue imo.
That said I’ve seen 10x as many false hackusations go out (mostly in pubs) and quite a few in match making as well its crazy. People definetly believe there are waaaay more hackers out there then there actually are. The obvious types that is.
ah , so reading the forums , the in game news and the steam update notes wasnt enough, ok well i guess there expecting a level of fanatacism i dont have. you clearly think they communicate well enough , i dont its been silence on the fronts i read. ive got a month +old notice there going zero tolerance and a 6+ week old report that never got followed up or replied to.
my money , there game , not my problem frankly.

My point is you shouldn’t say something like, “there is total silence” when you aren’t even looking for any of the information in the usual places and instead relying on an assumption. You’re making yourself mad and passing it on to other people based on something that isn’t true and could have been cleared up with a few inquiries or asking a question.
Then you immediately respond with assumptions about me. Seriously, stop assuming. Ask questions or read the resources available and you’ll be a lot happier.

well sorry but i disagree i think the forums (the official ones for the game hosted by the devs ie this one) , in game news section and the updates through steam are the usual areas , im not relying on an assumption im pointing out the total lack of posts and replies to the hack report i put in.
your saying im supposed to have checked some reddit. ok but how am i supposed to know about it i cant see it listed anywhere on the site as a news outlet. the games website has a news feed area and then lists a wiki the forums and a support area , dont see it listed in any sticky either.
again communication is there job not my responsibility.
and im sorry if my assumption you disagreed with me which i gathered by you disagreeing with me somehow upset you , i was only pointing out we disagreed on this which is fine.
but note you then made two assumptions about my state of mind , which are both wrong as it happens so maybe practice what you preach? /shrug
I enjoy that we hear about new mercs, tournaments that aren’t even hosted by them, changes, yet the least we hear about is anticheat which needs the most attention lol. I wouldn’t care if we didn’t see any new content for weeks if that meant a good anticheat that would banwave those using it currently.

Its actually really fucking infuriating at this point, every video I post, people claim hacks, almost every game people claim bullshit without speccing. Not sure whats this communities deal is. Yes there are hackers around, but they are not THAT common, especially in pubs.

You ask questions if you don’t find what you’re looking for. I didn’t say you have to read Reddit. I listed it as a resource, one of many, that contains a lot of information. There are dev streams, there is this forum, there is Splash Damage’s forum, there are news posts and articles that all contain information people would want. If you don’t find something specific then you can very easily ask a question as opposed to making an assumption and then spreading it around as if it’s true. Just because your specific question isn’t directly advertised before you doesn’t mean the answer to what you want to know doesn’t exist or hasn’t been communicated. This is one of the basic things a forum helps with.
I could address some of the other things you said but I’ll simply leave it here as this is off-topic. If you have any further responses that are along this topic line PM me please.
Way overblown. 600 hours @ elite rank. I’ve ran into cheaters, specifically even being stream sniped by cheaters, but apart from 13 or 14, over the course of the last 2 months (all of which have been reported and banned) I have yet to encounter someone else. Surely there’s 3-4 players I’m suspicious of, but don’t have enough proof to make any real accusations.
I will say that 3-4 weeks ago the cheating situation was… a lot more of an issue, but ever since we’re able to retrieve steam profiles with ease it’s become a complete non-issue.
I do however get accused every 2nd/3rd game by my opponents (bad MM to thank for matching elites/cobalts against unranked level 5s…) so, perhaps I or my buddies are those mysterious comp MM hackers everyone complains about?
This is a very tough thing to measure as there are also underperforming cheats for those who which to stay under the radar. Which means they will purposfully miss headshots or fail some kills. In the end the cheater nets a better score than without, while not being accused as a blatant hacker with a godlike score. There are even afk hackers out there who leave the game to run with their hack, just to farm the game for credits, while not even playing themselves. The program keeps running on its own, until they have enough credits to unlock all mercs and play normally from there on out.
So besides those blatant hackers, there are those that passed unoticed or simply get mistaken for a good player, the opposite being equality true. The only certainty we have is that there are cheaters out there, as to who they are, that’s another story.
People complaining about cheaters on the forums create a false picture of how common cheaters are, this is nothing new. I would say Dirty Bomb attracts an average number of this kind of trash. What we need is a working anti-cheat solution to dish out at least some punishment and improved way of reporting cheaters: in-game report button, in-game demo recorder.
OK, my session just now had more blatant cheaters than what I’ve seen in the rest of my 180 hours. I know it was just bad luck, but if a new player gets the same as what I just got, I’m 100% certain they would be put off the game.
