Well, I don’t know enough about mapping to take part in this competition, but I can honestly say that it’s driven me to learn more. Making a 1024³ map is definitely less intimidating than making a larger one.

The amount of detail an mood is accieved fast and easily with the lights why not to have them?
Well that wasn’t really my problem since I really really wanted lights in there. But I was thinking 'bout making the map with lights which are the key-elements for the map.
Thing is that players can lower the details of the map so that hiding in the shadows don’t make sense anymore.
But since having moving lights in the map seems a bit too hard (moving lights that project their light at realtime) I’m diverting to another idea.
Then 'bout the LMS thing … I’ve not played this gamemode yet so a simple question:
Is it the last team that stays alive that wins, or is it treated for each person individually?
Problem would be the positition of the spawnpoints if it’s treated individually. Any idea?

A small map is the perfect place to work with lights, as the maps small you dont need to worry too much about complie time, and you can get away with working with detail lightmaps with out to much impact on file size (unless you want to bumpmap the whole thing, was thinking about doing this my self, although I may just limit myself to some nice lighting effects)
LMS, its the last team standing that wins.
The dynamic lights are bit tricky and moving lights even more. 
In the LMS you have only limited number of lifes (or was it so that you have only 1 life, I think it is in the server settings)
The team that looses when it’s last player dies. No you do not have do anything on your map if the map objective do not require any class specific actions example the buildable bridge etc. because if other team must build something they have disadvance. I think the lms must playable with any set of classes. like all medic team.
So like I have bridge in my map I must create other bridge that is visible only in LMS mode and make the construction materials disapear… This is accieved in mapname_ lms.script see http://www.splashdamage.com/index.php?name=pnPHPbb2&file=viewtopic&t=2533&highlight=lms+script

DEADLINE ANNOUNCEMENT
The Seven’s Forum Damage 1024^3 competition is officially going to happen and the deadline for the contributions is set to:
24.3.2004 EET 24:00
basically this meas I check mails at the morning 25.3.2004 and the contributions that are sent to me are taken into competition.
basic rules for contributing:
- The Map or working link to the map should be sent to seven@mbnet.fi before deadline.
- Everyone can contribute even if they haven’t signed in the competition in this thread.
- I prefer to have link into some private download location not the pk3 or zip package as attachement but if you do not have any choise you can sent the map as attachement.

T have tried to download it with 3 different browsers… no go… it is corrupted.

Damm yeh i had a few people complain about corupt files, i uploaded it again if that dont work i’ll post some screenies ( dont like screenies as i always delete them when cleaning up )
