Server Crashes and Upcoming Server Patch
Just a small update.
I have been testing the beta patches on my 64 player and 32 player servers. Stability has been greatly increased already. There still seems to be some issues, but progress is certainly being made by SD, which is good news for us admins.
increasing the com_hunkmegs to 256 from the 96 default (i think) helped my linux server, just my 2 cents.
I’ve been getting Illegible Server messages(#216 and #128 i think) with my client. The first one happened while joining a match in between maps. The server was running the beta 10 patch.
Sorry for my English one question only…When will the patch appear? Slightly tired of waiting for it and the server still suffers of crashes…The game is excellent but…lags destroy it…
Some people are reffering about beta patches and so on…I would like to test it too hope it could not be worse then current status…
SD once more, thanks for great game but pls hurry with resolving server crashing bugs

Yes, I am sure SD is working very hard on the server patch. I just dropped my server player limit down to 16 and it seems to much more stable. I also increased the hunkmegs to 128.
Any idea when this patch will be out. I’m tired of the server crashing. I’m really tired when it crashes but doesn’t end the process then it takes up 100% of my CPU usage. This effects my whole server and everything else that runs on it. Please release the patch soon!!!

Any word on this patch or maybe someone can send me the BETA. My server is crashing 2 to 3 times a day and man its getting OLD!!! :disgust:
Oh and do us server admin who connect to are servers remotely a favor and make it a zip file. Not that crappy installer which requires a 16 bit video settings.
2 -3 times a day, your lucky man. I have to restart it up to 10 times!!! I am sick and tired of restarting a what I think is an excellent game but this crap with the stability ruins the game. Played a campaign the other day and it was an intense fight and the outcome was unsure - woot happens you think? IT CRASHED AGAIN 7 MINUTES BEFORE END OF ROUND - HOW FUN IS THAT.

Personally I think splash damage should send us “the server admins” anything they have to at least stabilize the servers. It been over 2 weeks since these problems with the servers crashing happening. If they have betas it should be made availible to all server admins. All there doing by not making this patch availiable to all is ruining there own reputation with any future games they work on.
For some reason my server is crashing more often, it use to be once every day or 2 & now its crashing every 2-3 hrs:(

I understand why it crashes - message overflow… but I cant work out why its getting worse??? Anyone have any theories?
I havent changed a thing on my pc since install.
Would be interested to hear from the beta testers a bit more detail on how the patch testing is going.

So far, the second version of the patch I am using is doing well. Very few crashes. They havent been eliminated completely, but a big improvement over the default install.
I can understand SD’s keeping the betas limited. This way they are assured of a controlled feedback/testing process. I also understand them realeasing to a “select few”. I am sure they have a close working relationship with these server operators and thus are assured of quality feedback and testing. Having beta tested for several years, undisciplined feedback is useless and that is what you will get if you do a mass beta release. This game is awsome and I just hope the public will allow them the time to resolve this issue. It would be a shame to loose support of a fine product over misunderstandings and impatience.
Good…so is it still the same reason for crashing (message overflow- access violation in the logfile) or are we dealing with new variants?

Ok, the origonal version of ET with regards servers crashing is pretty much fucked up and this second version beta patch is more stable, why the fuck don’t we all have that second beta released in order to make our lives just that little bit more tolerable. Simple Logic.
When you learn how to program, you’ll know how it will feel, and there do a great job, its really hard to program and search down bugs. You are bitching so dont 
I think SD is doing a fine job, if you ever actually developed a game or done bug fixes on opensource programs you’ll its quite the lengthy process, and why give out 5 bug fixes when you can just do 1.
At bygames we did increase the server limits to 32 players but this seemed to cause more crashes so we ended up to 26 players to see what differance is made and it seems to have stabalized
