thanks for sharing. i’m too lazy to search the thread where someone complained about the gdf being all white, but the poster.jpg shows a black field ops in case nobody noticed :slight_smile:

hmm by looking at the scans, from the poster,

Field ops is black, hope the black guy is a different class because the green overlay on the black face looks ugly IMO. Maybe I will eventually get used to it just like how I got used to the nintendo revolution renamed as the nintendo wii.

Soldier, Medic is white

Don’t know what covert ops is

And the engineer looks hispanic.

Is it going to be like this in the actual game? Or is it still the same as the previews I saw where every GDF class seems to have the same face?

You know what, I think I can correlate each class to each Captain Planet member. This is based off the poster, I still don’t know if the actual game GDF classes are like that or is it still the old way.

Soldier looks like he’s an american, so he is fire
Medic looks european, so he is wind
Engineer looks hispanic, or latin, so he is heart
Field ops looks black, as in from africa, so he is earth
Covert ops is unknown, hopefully he is asian, I’m asian, and the asian from Captain Planet had the element of water.

Now I’m officially playing as strogg because the reason for me to play GDF is that because the GDF models look nice, now they don’t look as nice. The colors don’t match, I think that the old field ops looks nicer, but to add variety of races to the GDF, I also don’t want to go back to the old way.

But why you care so much about it? What difference does it make how they look like, as long as they still die the same :lol:

Well to put it this way, I will be playing strogg, and I have to kill them. But before I kill them, I will be like, aw aw aw that’s fugly. While I’m doing that, the GDF guy would have killed me.

I still think the field ops visor shold be a different color, but it doesn’t really matter. All I want to know now is if the GDF are still all white people, like the old ones, or is it mixed now. Hope there is an asian. I want each class to be from each continent. Therefore it is a real GDF. And no, black guy must not be the field ops, but the black skin looks ugly on the other classes too, but field ops is fine enough, except that green and black, AHHHHHH :shock:

Now you’re making it so that I want the multi race classes more. :lol:

Someone should make a GDF attacking map where they must get to a an area where they can summon captain planet to destroy the strogg, but in order for it to work, one of each class must stand on the pedestals. Then they raise their fists and do that Earth fire wind water heart thing and then the savior is summoned.

I got a different poster and IMHO a better one, It is the one in the latest interviews with a stogg guy and a big beam coming down and killing the GDF :slight_smile:

I’d trade my poster for that. I got the poster they were handing out at Quakecon, with the beam coming down and destroying something with a Strogg in the foreground. Oh well.

Well it is based on my initial thoughts. One must be european, and the other american. Not two of one kind. It is his eyes and facial shape that told me this, and also that I think the older guy being european, like from russia, etc etc looks better than the younger soldier.

Or maybe I got used to seeing quake 4’s sledge’s face so much that I now stereotype them.

OR maybe the soldier from the poster looks too patriotic looking.

If each racial group is part of the GDF in the final game, we must make sure the covert ops is chinese, korean, japanese etc etc asian. Like myself. Therefore it would be true GDF. Besides, why not have japanese soldiers in the sewer map anyway?

Ok I just wikied captain planet. It seems that fire is from USA, and wind is of eastern europe notably russian origin. By looking at the mugs of the medic and soldier, you can tell who is russian, and who is american. Water is from japan, Earth is from Ghana, and Heart is from the amazon jungle.

Now if only the GDF were like that.

I’d feel that field ops should indeed be the black guy, even if it looks ugly. That same black character in captain planet (earth) has leadership skills and his character generally has a compass and binoculars.

The american (fire) character is hot tempered, therefore is one to hold heavy weapons and create massive destruction

The asian (water) should have been the engineer, as her character in captain planet is intelligent and technical.

The eastern european (wind) should have been the medic as being compassionate

The latin american (heart) is then left with covert ops. His personality, despite being more compassionate and therefore suit as medic, is overridden that he has the power to read people’s minds, just like infiltrating his mind like a covert ops.

Of course the classes would be all dudes.

Without the 5 classes being from each continent, they won’t be able to summon the powers to repel the strogg invasion. Now back to the preorder stuff, does any canadian here have the preorder package yet? I already ordered the normal one, but I’m hoping to order the stuff with extra stuff.

Well most American (settler-types) were exported out of europe, so we still share many of the same gene’s. I for one can’t tell the difference, and I work pretty closely with US guys and gals. BTW, Russia is in a different continent. Google Maps will help you there. Perhaps you meant a Prussian appearence?

Patriotism is not solely an Amercian concept.

I dunno, if it’s set a little in the future, developers could just assume that all races and peoples dropped the petty inter-country bickering, and just embraced in a brotherhood of peace. Of course, nothing unites a people like a common enemy. So if everyone get’s jiggy, skin tone would begin to distribute across the whole populace… I think there’s a Motown song about this :slight_smile:
