Seeing how ET:QW was in the making during the earliest releases of RTCW 2 news, I doubt SD had any time to cling onto this game.

The best guess would be that Raven designs it themselves, just like they did for Q4.

EDIT: I stand corrected, it seems they announced at QuakeCon 2007 that Threewave software is about to make the multiplayer portion. (As read at http://www.rtcw2-zone.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=36)

quote from the gameinformer article:

“Raven wouldn’t say much about multiplayer, other than that there won’t be co-op and that it’ll follow in the footsteps of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory”

I believe I read in the Game Informer article it would be id Tech 5, especially if they talk about “one big city”.

I hope Raven won’t mess up RTCW2 (Wolfenstein) like Quake 4. Q4 was like un-playable!

Wolfenstein™ – From id Software’s critically-acclaimed and multi-million unit selling Wolfenstein universe, which pioneered and defined the first-person action genre, comes the ultimate supernatural thriller. Set within a near-fictional, historical WWII setting, players take on the role of the heroic OSA agent BJ Blazkowicz as they are thrust into the unknown and unexpected to battle against combat troops, otherworldly forces, and the dark science created by a supernatural Nazi force hell-bent on world domination. Wolfenstein offers players an action-packed experience as they investigate the powers of a dark parallel dimension, join with resistance forces, and employ an arsenal of conventional and otherworldly weapons in attempts to annihilate the Nazi war machine. Ensuring a deep variety of action, Wolfenstein provides gamers with an assortment of interlinked missions that drive an intense, story-driven combat experience; while the Wolfenstein multiplayer experience continues the world-renowned tradition of class-based team objective gameplay with a full arsenal of conventional and supernatural weapons for addictive online warfare.

hmmmmm dont know bout the supernatural weapons in mp,has put me off a bit now,i lke real guns not laser beams and stuff so do most of my clan :frowning:

For one thing, I haven’t read any report saying that RtCW2 will be a realistic shooter (I don’t know if that’s what you’re after). As such, I think the developers can make it whatever pleases them.

If my intuation is right, the supernatural weapons will probably not be any laser weapons (more chance is something like a “gravity gun” or RtCW’s SP “tesla cannon”). Of course, results may vary.

We can only hope that Threewave software knows what they are doing with those weapons, which I guess they do - they’ve been around for quite some time.

hope so
we just like real guns, know what i mean.

yep seen that does look good
we shall see though.

It’s tech4. Tbh i’d rather it stuck to its RTCW roots for MP than going down the ET road… we already have a next gen ET style game from SD themselves.

(Garfo) #17

which game is that m8?

(DarkangelUK) #18

ET:Quake Wars :stuck_out_tongue:

Have you seen the trailer? Laser gun in 1944? Looks like a mix of quake and wolfenstein to me. Now why did they have to do that? If we want a quake game, we want a quake game. If we want a wolfenstein game, we want a wolfenstein game not a mix of both.

i hope they fix the periodic stuttering of that engine in this one :frowning:
