If you dodge the medics bullets he will run out of ammo b4 you with some well placed headshots the medics health goes down far to quickly to regenerate…everyone else pretty much said what needed to be said…The balance in Et is nothing less then perfection…I understand what your saying about all players having the same health and RTCW2 will be a different game with a different balance, and from a competition standpoint and a die hard RTCW fan I see where your comig from but the vaiety in the classes and possible gameplay is what I feel attracts more people to the series the 80% headshot smg battles is just what long time players enjoy…I dont think splash is makeing rtcw2 anyway…

Please leave medics regeneration alone. I need it so i can run into the middle of a battle and revive all your sorry asses.

Don’t forget we’ve only got one nade and a single clip of ammo when we first spawn :wink:

Medics might be the strongest class in 1 vs 1 (IF they have some ammo! and they are not low on health as I usually am, because reviving teammates and than bringing them tu full health again usually costs my health (enemy fire) and energy (healthpacks)) but, especially in competitive gameplay, medics will seldom encounter the enemy in a 1 vs 1 but in a large group. And guess who’s the primary target now ? Yes, the poor poor medic :frowning:

Also Medics are the weakest long range class, Soldiers have Panzerfaust or MG-42, Fieldops Arty, CovOps their sniper rifle and Engineers the RifleNade. And Medics have no splash damage weapons such as the airstrike or a PF.

To summarize: every class has it’s advantages and weaknesses and throughout the game they perfectly balance. Otherwise, if the Medic would indeed be that uber powerfull, everybody would play the medic on pubs, but the reality is that medics are usually really rare (especially good ones).

You don’t play on pubs like BiO, efterlyst, Locked Box etc. I take it? i.e. pubs frequented by top clan players? I avoid BiO these days, for example, because EVERYONE on the server is a Med.

Even “not so L337 but still poular with the clanned community” servers like FDNL and Telenet are usually 80% Meds.

Fact: Meds are the most powerful all-round fighting Class and on most of the servers I play on at least 70-80% of ALL the players on the server are Meds.

meds are overpowered, otherwise it wouldn’t be the most favored class hands down. The meds max health is rediculous, even in SW servers where the meds class lvl can’t usually get very high (or server has capped class skills, like in Locked Box) Lowering the meds max health to, say 110 or 115 IMO would help even it out.

Even though most players here play for fun, some of us play for competition :wink:

Seriously, if anyone has played ET for more than an hour will notice what medics really are. Actually its ridicilous, since ive seen 2 medics killing entire freshly spawned team without a problem, not to mention if you kill one medic, the other one will just revive him to full healt. Group of 4 medics does wonders.

See, thats the real strength of a Medic, the ability to revive his teammates! 4 Medics who continually revive each other are hard to kill entirely, but it seems it’s not that hard to kill a single Medic because otherwise there would be nobody to revive in the first place, rigt?

I said it a thousand times but I’ll repeat it again :wink:

Medics are the worst long range and the worst damage dealing class but Medics are also the class with the highest survivability.
A Medic on it’s own is not overpowered, a Rambo-Medic is not overpowered, a group mit a good Medic (or better a few good medics) that constantly gets revived is pretty tough and if you’d like to say so: overpowered. The thing that makes an enemy Medic so dangerous is not that he has 30HP more or that he regenerates 3HP every 3 sec, it’s his ability to revive teammates.

It’s possible to reduce the maximum ammo, right? Just reduce the medic’s maximum ammo by one or two clips. And I’ve got nothing agains the “shooter medics”.

Look, it’s really simple, everybody plays this game to have fun, nobody would play a medic if all you could do would be supporting OTHER players so that they have fun. If you think the Medic is a god among men… play a medic yourself. Simple as that.

the medic is a very powerful class - that’s right!
BUT: think about a war. you NEED the other classes too. otherwise your team won’t have a chance.

i’m playing this game with my friends for one year now. most of us are the opinion that the gamebalance is PERFECT.
Here in Austria ET is a very popular game and on lanparties teamwork is the most important thing that decides between win or loss.

And there-in lies the difference between “pub” and “clan” games. People play Med in clan games because the “team” is the most important thing. The original poster started this thread with clan games in mind, not pubs.

Meds are too powerful in clan games, especially as pretty much every other class has been “nerfed” in some way (to cut out spam and make ET maps less defensively biased). This needs addressing as now team selection in clan games is based around how few classes other than Med the team can get away with. We’re now seeing teams made up of 5 Meds + 1 Engy, or 4 Meds + 1 Field-Op + 1 Engy etc. and it’s turning into Med wars.

But that doesn’t mean it’s not a problem on pubs either. Meds are the ultimate stat-whore class. Go on any server frequented by clan players and you’ll find teams are extremely Med heavy.

My solution is to simply reduce their health to the same as everyone else. Maybe take away the re-gen and / or limit their packs as well, but give 'em an extra clip from the start if required to even things up. That would cut out the stat-whore Meds at a stroke cos it’s the health advantage that’s the attraction in the first place. Take 2 (SMG) players of equal skill and the one with the most health WILL win the firefight, simple as.

Or you could leave the regen, leave the extra life, leave the self-healing medpacks, and cut out the SMG! That would make a medic almost purely a healing class. Although, there are still people that can pwn with a pistol.

wtf?!
turn the medic into a “girl with lolliop”-class isn’t the right way …

simple stopping the ability to heal themselves with medipacks would be enought.

either the medic has to wait many secounds before he can fight again, or he stops being offensiv and helps the teammates.

cut off the huge health bonus would make a medic useless, because he wouldn’t be able to heal teammates during a battle! (the enemy is shooting at him during he is runnig around with is funny injection )
