Revive Shield?
With a spawn protection, gibbing becomes more crutial than it already is. You have to make a difference between pub and comp play. Many ppl here want a pure comp game but that won’t work. There needs to be a pub community with many pub games/players and I predict that many ppl will be frustrated without spawn protecion on pub games. There will always be a medic who blindly revives fallen teammates and if the guy who got revived got killed by a soldier and the enemy is still shooting, he will be down a second after he got revived. On pub games this can destroy some fun. For comp games its not important because usually you have a communication and most of comp players know that they can gib/kill themselves.

The main prob we have in this stage is, that many comp players are here and they want a real good comp shooter. But they forget, that the main players will be public gamers who play just for fun after work/school etc. So there needs to be a good balance between comp and public view. Dont focus too much on one of this views.
What has revive shield to do with pub and comp play? I think you missed the topic.

I have seen some AMAZING medic work from people in ET on publics. Take the revive shield away and you have rambo medics afraid to revive. I have seen this and I am not making this up btw!

(Kl3ppy) #43

No, I just stated that having no revive shield could spoil the fun on normal pub games.

(scre4m.) #44

it is as bad in comp as it is on pub.
No one likes being picked up and dieing instantly after.

So its no pub or comp prob, but a general problem.

(Rex) #45

No, comp players don’t have more fun being revived and die immediately after. It’s like scre4m said a general problem.

(Kendle) #46

Can only agree with Potty and others, a revived player needs immunity, and if the Medic doing the reviving benefits from that as well, all the better.

I’ve been playing Engie more than anything else in DB and I have a real problem with revives, namely no-one ever does (revive me). Or at least it seems that way. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve been lying in-capped next to a damaged EV and a Medic (or 2 or even 3 sometimes) have run past leaving me (and the EV) to lie there broken and useless.

What incentive is there for the Medic to risk his neck reviving me when the guy who killed me is probably still near by (and he can’t use me as a shield)? And what point is there being revived if the guy who killed me gets to kill me again straight away because I’m disorientated standing up and he isn’t?

We need revive shield, and as mentioned above, this is just as needed for pub play as it is for comp (maybe more so in fact).

(Kl3ppy) #47

Sure nobody likes it, and yes its a general problem. But I thought that an infight revive with instead death again is not as likely as it might be on pub games

Oh and before someone missunderstood it: I highly want to see a revive shield in DB, as stated above, the ETQW one would be fine for me

If your view stays at 1st person view when your dead but not gibbed the disorientation woulndt be that bad because you still follow the action somehow. Sometimes I get surprised because suddenly im back up when I get revived. Thats not really helpful. And if there would be a revive shield, you would be able to react and go back fighting. Right now its like: whoops got revived, oh Im down again. And the medic might think: what a jerk, revived and already down, Im not gonna risk my butt again …

(potty200) #48

I would like to state as not many people have mentioned it. The person reviving can take cover BEHIND the player they picked up. Surely that will encourage more people to use the revive kit?

Agree 100% I don’t remember anyone complaining about this in ETQW. Certainly not on et.

(potty200) #50

Should of made this a poll :\

(Rex) #51

No necessary, will be 90:10.

(Breo) #52

I still think we need intuative way to tap out like the spacebar when your incapacitated (because you can’t jump anyway in this state).

(dommafia) #53

I wish they added a +1 button so u can agree with people’s posts without having to do what I’m doing right now, again :stuck_out_tongue: Agree!

You can  (kill out button)

(dommafia) #55

He knows, but that’s not intuitive

(Mustang) #56

Also a button to un-tap out.

(dommafia) #57

That’s counter productive.

(Mustang) #58

How so?

If I accidentally or even deliberately tap out then a medic appears out of no-where I should still be able to be revived.

We had it in Brink and it worked just fine.

(scre4m.) #59

No it’s not.
I remember some situations in ETQW were I was thinking I will have to tap out and respawn , but one second later 2 mates jump around the corner, kill 3 enemies and revive me.
Would have been a shame if I still tap out now.

+1 for a un-tap out butoon

(Volcano) #60

no need for untap you have made the decision to respawn rather than waiting for your team mates due to lack of communication
