Records

(Ranstaton) #1

Okay, I’ve only actually tried a few times and never for the entire map, but with normal time settings as an axis on Fuel Dump, my record for knife kills is 9.

Whenever I’m actually going hunting with my knife I usually will get several before I put it away and blast my way out with my rifle.
Anyone else have any records that they think are somewhat special?

256 revives on a rather long game of Market Garden

(puubert) #3

My best is 476,820 knife kills. You n00b.

(Rippin Kitten) #4

480% something accuracy with the flamethrower with over 500 “shots.”

120 kills vs 4 Deaths, Fieldops on Battery, crowded server. But hey, that isnt skillfull, its just lucky that allies where so bad (no mortar, no snipers, no fo throwing an airstrike).

Playing ET on a 28.8k modem makes me special, but I’m not sure it’s a record. :frowning:

(ECE-666) #7

Dieing almost 4 times as much as making kills, but thats not a very great record to have :disgust:

I usually get the same amount of kills as deaths. I dont look very good when compared to the /killers (who have ratios of like 100 to 10, bastards). I really hate stats whores, and I wish ETPro would do what OSP .9 did and change /kills into deaths. As for records, im not quite sure. I did get 883% accuracy one time, I think I still have the screenshot but im not sure. It was definatly a bug though cause under the shots it says Mortar 6 shots 0 hits, and if you do the math thats only around 20 percent accuracy.

Well this isn’t a record and in fact it’s a low-down, dirty, slimy tactic. But once when I first discovered the “mortars in the west bunker window” trick on Battery, I happened to have a friendly fdop just XP whoring on me, so I just held fire and killed at least 3 and as many as 8 axis every time they spawned. Unfortunately for the Axis, my team couldn’t take advantage of my “prowess”, and they never did capture the bunker, and the axis never did change their spawn points (don’tcha love pubs :P), so by the end of the map I had 120-something kills and zero deaths.

/me hangs head in shame

That’s a bit harsh given that there’s perfectly good reasons to do /kill (e.g. changing class, teleporting back to spawn when the enemy has planted, etc). Making it so you lose stats/xp/something if you /kill when you have received damage in the last 2 seconds would be good though, since that’d be a pretty good indication you did it to avoid being killed by the enemy… hmm… bani are you listening?

(Ifurita) #11

but if you’re not really into stats, then you wouldn’t care if a /kill is counted against you as a death. At the end of the game, you’d mentally subtract them anyways to get an indication of your true K:D ratio. It only matters if you want others to see your KD ratio

“Special” like the Special Olympics, perhaps ? :moo:

I think /kill should cause total loss of all skills/rank/awards/XP, etc gained since your last spawn. /kill was made so you can get out of a terrain bug or whatnot, it wasn’t intended as a common gameplay tactic like it’s become. There are many “legit” tactics I’d like to see gone. I /kill all the time, but I think its cheap and I wish it wasnt possible; if you want to commit suicide, there shouldnt be a magic button that carries no penalty, you should cook off a 'nade in your hand like a real man :P. And if you don’t have one and are out of ammo, you make a suicide run with your knife (myself, I /kill like a bitch). Also, things like field ops /kill’ing to lay a constant barrage without recharging is cheap, and nullifies the purpose of the charge bar. I also tweak the ass out of my config, but I wish servers forced defaults. Example: artillery strikes. Sometimes I watch replays with full fluff on and realize I couldnt actually see the enemy I shot, because there was pink or blue smoke hiding him. But with wolfparticles off, I am basically “cheating” so I can see through it. And grawgun 0 (which I use) - guns are not invisible. They are supposed to block your view, and also with the gun off u have no muzzle flash, which is also part of the game. And FOV - I cant adjust my peripheral vision IRL, so it’s cheap (I use it). I have no problem with bit depth, fastsky, etc, but some things are part of the game and should be forced, IMO. Another is gamma. A dark map is dar for a reason, TO MAKE IT DARK SO YOU CAN’T SEE AS WELL. Atmospheric effects don’t really “hide” the enemy, and can cause massive lag for low-end boxes, so I have no objection to that. Same with brasstime. But blood flash, again, part of the game. You got shot, your vision turns red and blood splatters in your face. Why? TO DISORIENT YOU (I disable 'em too). And bobbing. Why did they create bobbing? To make shooting on the move more difficult, DUH! All thse things I myself disable, that doesnt mean I approve of it, and I’d rather see them all forced. What about the technically uninclined players who have never even opened a file unless theres a desktop icon for it, yet they are very good gamers and that’s all they use the PC for? They are at a disadvantage because they have no clue how to tweak.

Anyway I just think it all stinks, but I’ll keep doing it too…

Let’s make this into another /kill thread

I like /kill and use it like a madman, I often have more suicides than deaths. In my eyes there are two ways it degrades gameplay: when used to spam (powerbar recharge), especially on a map like battery where you can attack a second after spawn without travelling; and when used to deny someone a frag. First is fixed by etpro, and I’m sure in the future bani will take care of the second as well.

In all other cases /kill enriches the game in many ways.

On topic: I once killed 6 guys with one loader(30 bullets) but that was because they all just needed one or 2 hits

(SCDS_reyalP) #15

I love people who /kill in a firefight, especially if they don’t do it close to their spawn time

  • I live, where if they had stayed and fought, I might have died.
  • I don’t have to gib them.
  • I don’t have to worry about them getting revived.
  • If they brag about their ratio, I get a good laugh.

You seem to be confused on the concept of a ‘game’. :moo:

Bah! I’ll take you on anytime reyalP, just give me 5 minutes head start and some extra mines. :chef:

Skip the /kill in here plz.

Anyway: http://upl.mine.nu/uplfolders/upload4/Demo.JPG

Holy cow, you nearly filled up ALL the spaces with your kills. eek:   Ooooo… northpole…

In real life, a normal person will have over a 90⁰ field of view with peripheral vision, though.

That said, I only use a 97.5⁰ FOV. I hate the view distortion high FOVs incur.

Nearly 180 in fact, if you don’t allow for turning your head (which most of us can do without changing our direction of travel)

Game != real life. Which is a good thing, IMO.

Rain, maybe you can put this http://wouter.fov120.com/gfxengine/fisheyequake/ in etpro ? :moo:
