Radar map very hard for Axis

(poorme) #1

This map is very hard for the Axis team.

I’ve never seen the Axis win but i often see the Allied team winning in less than 5 minutes : the Allied team exploses the 2 doors and then they run to the radars.

  • this map is very large
  • a lot of foliage (easy to hide)
  • many buildings (easy to hide)
  • simple objectives (2 doors to detroy and 2 pieces of radard to steal)
  • hard to defend and particularly the door near the command post

If there is patch for this VERY VERY VERY good game, may be this map should be modified.

Thanks a lot

Dependes on the teams. On ND80’s servers the results are pretty even. On some servers the Allies never win.
If the Axis can keed the side door from getting blown, then their job is a lot easier.

It takes a while for people to figure the map layout. I think it’s a little premature to suggest the map should be changed. Wait till people get the hang of it and learn the best defece tactics.

(poorme) #4

You’re right
But it’very frustrating when a game lasts less than 5 minutes.

I hope that with time the Axis defence will be better on this map.

It’s possible to gain access to these stats ?

(bleh) #5

yea, give it time. im sure when people learn the map, it’ll be harder. its like the old RtCW radar. the allies get one easily but have a hard time getting the second.

(Pippi) #6

Depends on the players. I had one round of Radars, where I, an axis medic, was waiting fruitless at the south radar for 20 (30?) minutes for any allies, but they never showed up. I’ve become to believe that 90% of the players out there don’t know the objectives for that map at all. :eek2:

It’s too early to say anything about that map.

I’ve played on both axis and allied sides on that map, and the split has been pretty even.

Like most of the ET maps, there is a clear advantage to the team that uses more teamwork.

Once the Allies blow the main door near the truck, 1 or 2 MG42’s, and a mortar, can shut that entire side down.

Get your engineers to plant landmines around the other side and a few mines around the radars and Voila! Axis win.

I racked up 30 odd landmine kills 2 days ago on that map as axis…

LAND MINE THE HELL OUT OF IT

that’s the first thing you need to do

and axis NEVER defend the alternate side… when im allies… i can just walk up… plant the bomb… build a command post and take both radars no problem… everyone worries about teh main huge door…

im like ‘pfft why play shoot out when i can just sneak around the other way’

if you want to talk about an unfair map… axis have it tuff on the rail gun map… long ass spawn time AND once the allies have the 2nd spawn they can be in the axis base in 10 seconds…

I’ve never seen axis win on that map…I’ve never even seen them get past the first gate

Ugh I hate the rail gun map sometimes. If the Allies push you back to your spawn and they ahve a few high level Field Ops your in for a world of pain. Non-stop air and artillery strikes :banghead: Get’s a little frustrating after a while. Other then that, I love that map.

Back to the Radar though. Yeah it’s amazing how many Axis jsut ignore that little right side entrance, and instead go straight to the big door at the center. Last game I was in we had at least 3 soldiers with MGs 2 Field Ops calling in airstrikes and a medic or two running around healing them, while only me and this other guy got the right side. Then they wonder why we lost :bash: They’ll learn though.

yeah im surprised machine gunners aren’t over used… theya re actually underused by axis

in almost all the maps axis is on defense… they need to setup MG posts all over the place

for example on the radar map… on the right side… it’s best to setup 2 machine gunners on that top ledge… maybe even a mortar guy… drop some ammo for the guys and setup camp…

same goes for the door

i hope n00bs are taking notes

I’ve seen see-saw battles on Railgun that make the back and forth pace of original RtCW maps look like a 3rd grade game of kickball.

Axis get tug, it goes back, get again, it goes, yeah we loaded the ammo. Tug goes back… back and forth back and forth. Great fun.

(poorme) #12

Right, Axis never defends this door. When i play Allied, i first play an engineer to destroy this door (construct the command post), then i run to the radar. If i’m killed, i play a Medic and i run again. I always Win.

This map is hard for the Axis but not impossible. The difference between the two maps : On Rail Gun, if the Axis loses the game lasts 30 minutes but on Radar if the Axis loses the game often lasts less than 10 minutes.

Hehe, yesterday when I played Radar I was the only one with a decent knowledge of the map, I had approx. 4 neewbs in my team and the other team was 5-7 neebs strong. I had a lot of fun playing Eng. and getting rediculous amounts of Landmine kills

In the end the Axis defended both Radar ports for 30 min and I died like 3 times while really frustrating the other team with my mines (and a occational MP40 kill here and there :bump: )

I’d say just wait a little until all players know how to play the maps than new defence and offence strategies will develop and it wont be a walkover for either team anymore.

Rail gun is great! So far I think best Axis tactic is to focus on taking the depot yard first. That way you can attack the allies from two opposite directions both of which are strategically important for winning the map. This also ensures the Allies spawn in one place, making it easier to pen them in. At the mo I think too many people focus on getting the train to the depot yard or fixing the gun controls - these should be secondary to taking the depot.

(poorme) #15

Absolutely right. I think that the team that controls the depot yard and the command post wins.

(Configga) #16

i’ve been on several winning axis teams on that map … and i never thought that it seemed to favor the allies.

for me, Battery tends to be really hard for the allies unless they know what they are doing. it seems easier for a rather clueless axis team to handle. then again, i’ve been on allies teams that just completely trounced the axis quickly, so who knows.

(bani) #17

imho goldrush is really unbalanced in favor of axis. once the tank gets to the vault, its airstrike spam city for axis… spawn, airstrike, /kill… lather rinse repeat…

(VampMaster) #18

Nah, gold rush is an annoying map, but a good one :), I played many time as allie Field op, and Doing extremely well at blocking the advance of the axis while my team steals the gold. Just need… team work :).

(WT) #19

The easiest way for Axis to win on Radar is to park an MG42 under each end of the foot bridge by the large doors. The IMPORTANT part is to have Field Ops supply them with a steady stream of ammo. I never play Soldier but tried it and had 6 kills in under 30 seconds on that map … til I ran out of ammo right away. Also, their air strikes couldn’t touch me tucked under the bridge. One MG42 on each end covers that entire section and just mine the hell out of the radars and you SHOULD win on Axis. Throw in a pair of Cov Ops around the back way and you will have an Allied team in disarray.

(VampMaster) #20

I rarely see fileds ops giving out ammos except when directly out of spawn, then they keep the energy for air strike and that is all :(. FIELD OPS, GIVE AMMOS.
