Hello,
I think that the etqw stats site will not be updated anymore. Strange feeling.
R.I.P. stats. GG!
you can bet with me on that. :icarus:

Game ran out of funding for the stats. Kinda obvious that the stats are pulled.
now everyone will be: The stats are dead! Long live the stats…
Can you please stop to post that stats are deads every week ? Seriously its becoming obsessive and boring, if you are unhappy just uninstall or c:format or whatever it takes, if you dont care bout stats that much then stop your whine and play the damn game already ffs.
Peace

THIS time is really differend than previous, earlier i was screaming in hope to bring it back, well maybe it worked maybe not as it became online for some time and now again down. I lost hope that it will be ever working again that’s what R.I.P. and i’m not going to post once again about STATS, unless… it will become avilable, which is highly unlikely or whatever.
I personally dont know why are people making such a fuss about stats. For me, stats are always been a thing that make gamers hostile, and gameplay expirience less fun, because everybody are looking at them and artifficialy pump them, instead of having friendly fun, and playing as a team.
Because of this, i quit playing, and buying many games that have some sort of lobby vissible stats. I take for example tiberium wars: Every single dude that has lower stats than me,(and even just a tad lower,or a little bit higher) would kick me out of match. By removing stats, people wouldnt be aware how much some opponent is strong, but it would certanly bring more cohesive community, because afterrall there are no numbers, and stupid prestige, thus making people less greedy and ego-maniacal.
Stats is bring trouble more than better [for non game reasons], especially fat stupid american gamers who head big.
Did that sound like something Basiley would say?
But anyway, I like stats, but I wish that the whole leaderboard didn’t exist, i.e. the only way to see your stats/someone else’s stats would be to have them on your friends list. The stats have, for me atleast, long increased the replayability of the game by working towards awards.

Yes, nice point there. I agree, it would get rid of unpleasnt(non-gaming) hostile situations.
Stats are alive and well and included in the online menu system on the PS3.
the fact that there is a scoreboard at the end of every round, no matter if it’s ranked or not, supports your conclusion…
You can take away the stats database and the ranking website, but you can’t stop people from trying to get the most XP in a game that has XP, or kills in a game that includes killing, or score in a game with a final scoreboard.
There’s a much better chance that etqw was DOA due to lack of advertisement and due to a buttload of competing titles being released at the same time that actually were hyped up, than there is that stats killed it.
Just look at Fallout 3… Hype sells games, not quality, ingenuity or consistency.
You won’t even hear about another “RPG” on the PC that was released last year.
Even tho ETQW is about 5 bucks in the states right now, and for the money it’s the best game you can buy off the shelf in terms of a current gen team based shooter (with or without classes), it’s not ever going to be any more popular than it currently is, because very few people even know about it compared to the millions who know about Halo or COD. (I actually have to give other quake players links to go check it out because most of the time I when talk to someone about the game, they have no idea what it is)
qft, hate to say it the game killer was the awkward custom content, i said it back when the game was in like 1.2 i’ll stand by it, all the manual installs and game restarts are a turn off to the every day gamer, i hope they fix that aspect of this engine in brink otherwise r.i.p. sd, love you guys but i don’t think that game will survive it
stat whoring was a minor annoyance compared to ranked servers, they killed what ever chance custom content had, and custom content is what id Software’s games were best at. I personally was quite disappointed, the ranked servers just attracted people who work for leaderbords. I think without them, people would have learned to play properly, just like RTCW and W:ET before they screwed it up with xp save forever and double jump akimbo R/L mods.
I have tried to get some folks involved (even $$ a game for somebody)
People seem to want ‘Offcial’ Maps, Patches, expansions, SP mode etc. These were people in the community who would play Vanilla, Mods and comp…
I saw some Wolf players transfer over to ET:QW, but not enough, and now the players are moving on again. There are still some old timers around…
I still ‘whore’ up the Medic class because… I like being a Medic… if I get a leaderboard at the end of a map it’s because I have been working for my XP.
