Question with pre-order

(Grifter77) #1

Sup folks, I pre-ordered Quake wars trough Future Shop an affiliate company of best buy. I did not receive the registration code required to register my name. Anyone knows if its the store that supply it or Activision/splashdamage?

I called Future shop sales representative, the guy there simply had no clue, what a surprise!!!

(Bongoboy) #2

I can positively assure you it isn’t us, alas.

(Grifter77) #3

thx for the quick reply i’ll post on activision and try to figure out where the hell can I get it.

(photeknix) #4

did you order it online? because you should recieve a pre-order package with the code on a card with a few other things like a poster and collectible card. i didn’t order mine online but thats how it works pre-ordering in stores, they hand it to you then and there unless they are out of them.

Anyone got a link for Activision’s forums whether they be US or UK? I find their website as useful as a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

(Grifter77) #6

I pre-ordered online, shit I should of pre-ordered in the store and today everything is close.

DAMMIT!!!

(obsidian) #7

I assume you are in Canada? Let me know how it works out, since nothing on either Futureshop or Bestbuy (Canada) has any information on the pre-order. EB Games’ Canadian website is absolutely useless.

As I said in the other thread, Canadians always get shafted when it comes to pre-orders.

(Sauron|EFG) #8

Maybe ACTV should reconsider offering something with preorders that so many online stores apparently fail to deliver. This whole thing seems like a scam, although I’m sure that wasn’t their intention.

To all Canadian pre-ordering through Future shop or Best Buy, well be patient. I was on the the phone for the last half hour with lots of people form both company and well they have nothing. With time they finally found out it actually exist, yes there is a pre-order package for Quake Wars, but nobody has it. Future shop and Best Buy will order some this week I have been assured but they do not know when it’s gonna be available. Seems like nobody knew about it at first and I had to send them to the official website, then look in there mainframe to actually confirm it’s existence.

It pains me to see I will not benefit right away, I’m sure we all pre-ordered the game for the registration since I really don’t care about the cards they also give.

Again it’s not a scam but the information didn’t not go through to the retaillers and most of them don’t know about this. Call your local store ask about it otherwise I wouldn’t be surprised that they never order some.

I believe Activision did screw up big time on this, and well, some of us will have to pay the price.

looks like i’ll be cancelling my normal order and replace it with the preorder soon.

(Bongoboy) #11

This is all very irking, I wish there were more SD could do about it : {

I picked up my package at the local Best Buy for $10.00.

They recommended that I cancel my pre-order that I did online, and then I purchased the above discussed package. Comes with the poster, 2 cards, and a pre-registration card with the code for your name reservation.

Along with that, the receipt for the package also holds 1 copy of the game when it comes in for me to pick up at the customer service desk at Best Buy. So, when it comes in, I pay for the game, and get my $10.00 dollars back as a discount of the purchase price of the game.

I used the registration card to reserve my name on the website, but I still have to go back, as per the e-mail I got after registration, after I buy the game and enter the DVD key to complete the registration process.

I received a response to my inquiry at Activision, you gota love this !

Activision does not sell games directly. If you go to the Activision website, you can click the Store link. That will take you take to Dealtime.com. Dealtime.com is search engine that can help you find the lowest price available.

You gota love this, we do not sell game NO KIDING!!! You already paid for it so why should we bother !!! Ain’t there suppose to publish the damm game. I’m starting to get really pissed about this issue here.

Nice customer service, EA games sucks but at least they wanna sell there crap.

Canada always gets shafted. Every time. No denying that. We have to get things the hard way.

The other guys get to buy then wait and also get cool stuff. And reserve their names FIRST.

I’d suggest for the next time something like this, where you reserve things like names, be able to be bought online on the same site. That way everyone gets the same chances of getting things first.

Usually, canadians have to buy off American sites and pay shipping and border taxes that I didn’t even bother to buy off american sites.

Fortunately, stuff like names don’t matter to me. I have like the one I’m using now, and a few others. So if one is taken, I’ll use another. But if it were a collectors item, where you get a code and there are a limited number of that rare item, and the first people to punch the code in get to get it, then it would be really unfair IMO.

There is no possible way for the whole world to get stuff the same time and Canadians always have to pay the price and wait and hopefully no one takes your name.

(Nail) #15

nobody actually has a reserved name till the game ships retail and you verify with code from dvd package, and Canadians usually get same release date as USA and we get games cheaper

(ktr) #16

no, the name is reserved, it needs to binded to your cdkey that will come with the game.

to say that two people wanted the name “CPT_McNugget”, and is going to buy it on the same day, but one reserved it…the reserver gets the name.

But i wonder how long the name is going to be reserved…before it expires (but i bet the second person who wanted it…already got a new name.

(Nail) #17

cool, I’ll pre register every form of “Sn1P3r” and “h34DsH07” and sell em on e-bay

(ktr) #18

about three months ago you could…but now EBay forbids sales of virtual property…

oh well, Craig’s List it is

(SKaREO) #20

[sarcasm]

You guys are right, Canada always gets shafted, no matter what. The second largest country in the world and we can’t even get our video game pre-orders right! Free health care sucks too, I’m moving to the US before I get shafted more.

[/sarcasm]

Considering there are fewer people in Canada than in California alone, I’m pretty sure Activision has better things to worry about than if we can get our nickname before Nail starts enterprising his fortunes.

You can always call your online puppet something else, can’t you?
