I personally use it for Jump, but I’m weird.

Yes you are!!, since the space bar is so easy to use with you thumb. The ‘C’ is more difficult since you always want to walk to the right with ‘D’.
Well the gameplay is based on ET gameplay ( objectif and class based). It’s the new old school FPS (RTCW/QUAKE/UT), it captures the magic of ET plus I am pretty sure that at some point I red that it was going to be a fast paced FPS but I can’t confirm that.
These things tend to make me think that even if it’s not, it should be a fast paced FPS.
Again, my opinion and I get that you disagree
Edit : I am not the only one saying that : https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?id=229117143765669&story_fbid=443144865751194
Well, I dont completly disagree
I like that its not a 1 HS game, I like that its going to be a objective based game. But I think many people here have a wrong expectation. They thought we will have something like ET2, with the same game mechanics with the same “magic” (sry DarkangelUK) but we dont get it. There are some core elements left. But many poeple are biased because SD made ET/ETQW and they thought we will get something similar.
My personal opinion:
[ul]
[li]The ability to iron-sight introduces more variety to the combat mechanics[/li][li]It increases the skill curve by allowing the player to make a choice / tradeoff[/li][li]It helps us to balance weapons for both close range and long range[/li][li]It means we have another variable with which to differentiate weapons[/li][li]It opens us up XT to a wider gaming audience[/li][li]It’s how people use weapons in the real world, making it more relateable[/li][li]It is a mechanic that is very much expected of any FPS with a modern/near-future setting[/li][li]It makes very good use of Mouse2
[/li][/ul]
This is some valid arguments.
The only thing I want to say is that in real world, sure soldiers use Iron sight, but they don’t fight strafing left from right, they camp or crouch and this is the main reason I think it harm this game.
Apart from this one, all your arguments are legit so I guess let it as it is!
And I ask you again: Did SD somewhere say xt will be a fast paced shooter? I’m not trolling or something, but I can’t remember having read a statement saying it will be a fast paced shooter.
The only thing I can see is that some assumptions are made of DarkAngelUK’s famous quote
Some communication around Extraction :
http://www.fpsreport.com/games/dirty-bomb.html
http://online.wsj.com/article/PR-CO-20130827-906363.html
etc … all the communication is around “Fast paced”
So ? where is the fast paced ?
yeah the fight are a bit more nervous since the movement has been tweak weeks ago, but we need more than 20% of acceleration …
thx for the Links, wasnt aware of it.
but fast paced action doesnt necessary mean fast running mercs
You play on words dude ! Fast paced is fast paced ! that’s all
and movement still not really effective to me, bit better but this is not what I expect for this kind of game.
I think i’m weird to ! since quake I use it like this.
Me too
In ET and Quake my mouse 2 was always jump, shift was crouch, was perfect for crouch jumping in ET. I always did it just for the lulz though, it was simply a nice feeling jumping around like that.
Also good for spamming mouse 2 while keep walking in crouch mode, makes you look funny.
Just recently switched this over in xT. My IS is now on ‘C’, which basically means, don’t use it, and if use it, then you will have hard time moving with ‘D’ key. I guess i could switch to toggling it, but i don’t want that. Rather this way
iam not ok with perks… changes the game to much
iam just want a weapon customization: able to put some sights, silencer, etc… iam a ADS guy and i want a red dot sight in my gun, i play better this way.
is perfectly possible put weapon customization in this game and not ruin it ^^
perks otherwise is awful and imo can ruin the game
Check weapon customization on Warface, they done a great job.
That move on 1:02 would instantly make the movement in xT more interesting. I really don’t know why SD does not venture anything with movement so far. There is like no sign at all of this kind. It does not have to be useful for the most part, just ‘interesting’ is the keyword. Yes, that is how less i demand already lol. Kinda sad …
Can’t say I like this weapon customization concept. In my opinion, SD’s manpower would be better spent making more mercs, instead of adding weapon customization that will inevitably make it harder to differentiate the mercs.
I much prefer that all changes to the player character’s abilities and stats are per game and not persistent. By “per game” I mean temporary, as in; they would reset to 0 after a match ends. Adding silencers, red dot sights, scopes, whatever, as level up rewards that can be selected is more dynamic and better for gameplay than having to choose them before starting a match. When they’re per game, each team has a chance to adjust to what the other team is doing, whereas persistent customization is essentially guess work – you try to guess what the other team will be using before the match starts.
I think a simple rule to follow should be to never add persistent customization that has an effect on the players’ ingame performance. When in doubt, copy Dota 2.
Sam, go play BLR a bit and check out the customization there. They have the best customization setup I ever played. Back when their was somewhat of a competitive scene most players had different setups for their guns that catered to their play style. high dmg inaccurate SMG, low damage more accurate LMG, balanced AR etc.
May not be as good now since they revamped the recoil mechanics but its a very good system.
I don’t think a game like BLR can ever have a significant competitive scene. It’s an inherently casual game because of significant pay2win elements and uninspired game modes. While I agree with you that their customization system is a cool gimmick, it doesn’t do the gameplay any favors in my opinion. It’s essentially a guessing game where you’re trying to guess which customizations you need to gain an advantage over the other team – which invariably means topping up your health until you can survive <x> bullets from <y> gun setup. Not much depth in that.
i agree with fana. make more mercs, make merc outfit customizable, make different items/sets of items just like in dota2. who wouldnt spent 10-20$ for sick looking character?
gun customization is not necessary at all.
here’s an example of the types of customization SD could sell, not one of them, save the grenade launcher can increase the damage the weapon does, just makes it your own

agree the chars and skins should be the sales.not too much special stuff.
first focus get more unique weapons in
i post also a nice shotgun which i alredy postet without a pic http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:A_soldier_shoots_a_AA-12.jpg?uselang=de
What if you turn the question around. Is there a valid reason to include it?
I don’t really care either way, it’s just a decision that has to be made, but I do think that excluding it would have an impact on the gameplay.
I did earlier. Now smooth has as well. I put the ball on the free throw line twice for you guys to take the shot. Instead you pass it to me and I alley-oop’d with Smooth. Ball is in your court again…
messing around with wall hoping while making my map i think it could be worthwhile looking into with light weight chars
