The point is that before criticising custom maps, you should at least play them… as you admitted yourself you didnt. Thats the kind of behaviour that killed custom content too “its shit we wont play these maps” without trying at least the ones that are almost finished… I agree that some maps are POS imo cuz they unenjoyable to me, but frankly there arent many custom on which I havent a great time.

ps: to NA boiz, stop being high horse mounted and come play on Nirvana servers on sunday, I allways play on NA servers but barely see a na boi on eu servers… with a so small community, time to gather dont ya think?

The ones I tried were shit. Impressive attempts from amateur mappers, but shit compared to the official ones. That’s why I asked for the maps that do go over the official standards.

Funny, I don’t seem to remember any feedback on any map in the previous forums from yourself, so don’t come here moaning that custom maps are shit, you expect these maps to get good by magic or something? It’s people like yourself (plus other things beside) that made sure customs never took off in this game and drove talented mappers away, along with many more with interesting ideas for this game, this also extended to modding.

You don’t seem to have heard about Maridia, Free Spirit City or Radar so I would guess you only ever played the first few customs, ie before mappers got familiar with the game…

Would be interested to know why you think the maps are shit though…

I guess that tells us something how active you were on those forums back in the days. Don’t tell me I wasn’t active with the custom content or didn’t support those mappers, bloody hell I even included 3D sketchups on how to improve their maps in my feedback.

I’ve only seen them in the earliest stages before I started playing QW less, sure.

Lol you got me, but that’s cuz i tend to ping 300+ on NA servers as well. I used to play customs when the net was good enough, but I think most NA guys are anal about ping :). Side note, I reinstalled QW earlier this week to test out Anthony’s app and had the weirdest thing happen. Whenever I came into contact with a certain guy it caused half the people on the server to lag and I apparently was moving at 2x normal speed lol. I was running all defaults too… NA servers for u :D.

Just want to say a big THANK YOU, yet again, to ALL the mappers and modders in this community and to those who are putting them down, please shut up. It’s the arbitrary, mindless criticism like that that drives these guys away, sometimes when their maps are closed to being finished. Many of the custom maps are high quality, IMO, and we are an organized group that gets IMMENSE enjoyment out of using them several times a week in an organized manner. Some of the custom maps are harder for attacking or defending than the vanilla maps, but in TAW we take that as a challenge and it makes a huge difference when playing in a serious team battle than just on the pubs.

So to the mappers and modders, keep doing what you’re doing. TAW supports you 100%, and we will continue to show that with our public autodownload custom servers for every mod and every custom map. That’s the least we can do for all the hard work you guys put in to create these maps and mods.
