Q&A for Brink - Questions Needed

(tokamak) #41

I’ll take the liberty to answer some to which there’s already info available.

Yes, you can pick up the weapons, but they’ll only have a small amount of ammo left.

We know that mediums and heavies can carry the bigger guns. Will certain attachments or attachments in general add weight so that a gun with a ton of additions will be too heavy to use?

No, the only restrictions are the slots on the weapon. Note that each add-on comes with it’s own negative stats to balance things out. A weapon with lots of additions isn’t necessarily better than one without any add-ons at all.

We know the GL is a heavy weapon is it also an attachment? I have heard some claim it is.

The automated GL is a heavy weapon, there also seems to be a light grenade launcher for medium bodies. I’m also pretty sure a grenade launcher can be an attachment (from an interview)

hmmmmmmm… I was sure I heard/read somewhere that having a ton of attachments on your gun will cause a very slight negative effect on movement speed. Not to a point where a certain body won’t be able to use it, but a small overall slow down of your movement… albeit very slightly.

(tokamak) #43

Ah yes, that would be just another property to the gun.

Just speculation here: I don’t think that will happen as it would pollute the distinction between the bodytypes. The bodytype is already your gun restriction so adding another one on top of this with gun attachments seems to be an overkill.

You’re actually asking “Will people be obliged to use SMART heavily in close combat firefights or does it implore a penalty on your weapon spread”[/QUOTE]

If it didn’t have any penalties, you ought to assume it’s going to be abused .

When they mentioned “light” or “small” grenade launchers, they may have actually be referring to the GL attachment you can put on gun, so a light grenade launcher and the attachment could be one in the same.

(tokamak) #46

I’m talking about that grenade launcher as used in the early videos and the cinematic.

@Inferno, it’s just a simple fact, why the hell would making yourself a harder target be free of any consequences? That would mean that parkouring around would be the only viable stance in regardless of what you’re doing.

(Mad Hatter) #47

I can’t remember which interview or video it was from, but I heard that your accuracy while sliding is reduced somewhat heavily. I assume that you also get an accuracy deduction while doing other parkour moves as well.

(LyndonL) #48

I also heard the same.

(Cankor) #49

Right. I actually took the question to mean, will using SMART give you more of a disadvantage than doing the same movements manually. Seems like a slide is a slide, whether done with SMART or manually, it should decrease your accuracy the same either way.

(longbow) #50

I belive the disadvantage of using the SMART button instead of doing the movements manually is a loss in speed and precision, not accuracy.

My question…

Ed is obviously quite passionate about the story, and I like a meaty storyline myself… has there been any discussions or talks about a novel being released to flesh the story out, or in general to enhance our view of the Brink universe and life on the Ark?

I hope it has consequences, but then again… that is why I am asking. Excuse me for asking a frequently asked question that has yet to be answered.

(tokamak) #53

You were asking a loaded question and you know that.

(H0RSE) #54

When Rahdo recently talked about fireteams, he seems to imply that they are made up of 2 players, by saying things like “you can see either your friend or that player who is really good, and you can click on them and issue them an invite into your fireteam,” and “the system is always looking behind the scenes for a map which has two slots.” My question is, are 2 players the max limit a fireteam can be, or can it be larger?

(Gogeku) #55

As an addition to HORSE’s question. Will it be possible to spawn on people from your fireteam like we’ve seen it in other titles?

(Nail) #56

no, only at spawnpoints

(Cankor) #57

And because of this Medics roles are far more important that they are in games where you can spawn on a team mate.

What is the “requirements” for an enemy to show up as red dots on the radar/minimap?
Gunshot, vision on them, intel from operatives?

Good question. Also while using SMART does (or so I hear) decrease your accuracy it gets you out of your enemies crosshairs as well.

  1. The inclusion of the class action button, and the smart button seems to reward players for simply having the thought, than the abilty to perform the actions efficiently via the use of weapon banks, or in smarts case, via jump and crouch.

Why have you chosen that approach in your design of the game?

  1. In the latest videos, we see that when players are on low health, the screen “saturates” similar to what we see in COD or BC2, and there is also a health bar that changes color. Ontop of that there are directional hit indicators that would suggest to the player - “hey look at your health bar silly” when being hit.

Why isn’t the ability to be aware of ones own health during a fight, valued in Brink? Why not just keep the health bar and the directional hit indicators?

  1. When a player is incapacitated, the player’s vision is obscured diminishing their ability to communicate what is happening from their position to their team.

Do you believe this cool idea will be ruined by players camping incapped players, and using them as bait?

  1. Auto Vsays seems like a decent idea for console, due to the lack of buttons available. However sometimes the assistance via a teammate may not be welcomed or appropriate for that moment in the game.

Do PC players have the choice in:
a) Using Vsays the ET / QW way?
b)The ability to turn off missions in the mission wheel that are related to them?
