I have been a q3 public admin for barrysworld for a couple of years and all though q3 is not enemy territory i was an active admin when ogc was first “publically released” for q3 / osp and i have to say that it was reasonably difficult to spot a cheat (i successfully caught and banned a lot) and i’ve been playing the game for years, occasionaly you get a few obvious ones but they are more often than not “testing” and curious rather than trying to pass it off as “skill”.

Tweaking your config is part of any online game, if pb doesnt restrict it then obviously its not classed as “cheating” unless the guy killed you and you cant take it.

Say were on a server, I play with cg_atmosphericaffects 0 and you play with 1, its not restricted by the server either, (i play with it because its easier on the eyes and i have bad pc) i then kill you in 3 or 4 bullets with a headshot because i can aim, does that make me a cheat? cg_atmosphericaffects doesnt really improve your sight but it does increase fps, it certainly doesnt remove fog, just stops the snow & rain.

I quite often also when playing spam a few bullets here and there, quite often because public servers are that busy, someones going to walk into it and if spammed in the right direction then you can perhaps lower the health of a few freshly spawned enemies.

The guy whining that got hit by 2 bullets dead, ever think about just putting it down to luck?

I really cannot stand people who insist someones a cheat everytime they die, get a life.

How are you supposed to make serious replies to statements like that? there is no point trying to counter I R O N M A N, its been done half a dozen times already, he just repeats his opinion, reworded with no backup other than “I played descent” (good for you, I played a few games and didnt like it much. I also played Doom - relevance?) with not so much as an acknowledgement, never mind a counterpoint, that his statements have already been throughly dismantled.

Hence either I R O N M A N is ignorant and stubborn, or just trolling. Other readers have plenty to make up their own minds, he is a lost cause.

Hey Iron…are you from hack infested CS… i can see why your so paranoid theres hacks everywhere. But this isn’t q2 anymore with zbots and such that spin in circles… hacks harder to spot. In rtcw and ET …i have yet to see anything out of the ordinary except players with good aim…something maybe your also clueless to…

Also…Theres a few servers out there that have cheats enabled. Better check to see if the server you were on was one of those. I buddy of mine had a demo of an invicibility guy …everyone was shooting the crap out of him… but he just walked the radar part on radar right to the truck. Turns out that server had cheats enabled…and theres a few other highly populated servers that also have cheats enabled. Why? who knows…ask the admin of these servers.

I have a question for those of you that are ranting because I posted something about cheaters.

Why does it upset you so much for someone to say they have seen cheaters in a game?
Can you give a rational explaination for being upset by this?

Because I gotta tell ya, at this point I can only assume that
these idiots are cheaters themselves. It never fails that when
someone mentions “cheaters” that the cheaters themselves come
out of the woodwork and attack the one who said it. And it also
happens every time anyone posts something about seeing a cheater
in a game on a forum, regardless of the game, and no matter who
posts it. After the post come all these morons who argue upside
down and backwards that the one who posted is not seeing cheaters.
We all know that cheaters exist in virtually all games. Yet here come
the morons who start arguing that you have not and cannot spot a
cheater in the game.

So, say it for the record. Do you not think cheaters exist in RTCW?
Do you really thing that a player cannot spot a chreater?
Do you think that you are the only one who can see cheaters?

Let’s hear it.

Correcting the misinformation you are spreading. Most people would have assumed from teh funneh images that people are more inclined to poke a little fun than get “upset”. I suppose youre now trying to insinuate we are cheaters getting worried we might be getting exposed… Yawn.

I think we all know theres hacks/cheats out there…but this game by far has it under control thx to evenbalance. Sure PB may not catch everything but your dreaming if you think its that widespread. This isn’t the PB from CS… its evolved quite a bit.
No one is pissed you bring hacks and cheats up… its more about you thinking you see them everynight on 4-5 servers you play…lol. Do u hear voices also?
