nothing wrong with Jay’s mod, it’s very well done, unfortunately alot of the server admins set it up to be extremely lame, they let people save and save till they have every level. Then they can’t play on another server because they’ll lose their “XP”, that’s what makes them popular, players have to return to have the “XP” they took 4 days to accumulate
Publics view on XP save
Personaly I love palying XP save servers. Its not so much becouse of the xp save part but becouse they are so full of noobs. Just like Nail said, they go there just so that they can get xp and feel like their actualy playing well for once. What I do is I simply go there every now and then and frag the hell out of them and just vent all frustration in a single match. You can get lv 3 light weapons in one map easy. Its just great when you can be the top fragger on a server without haveing to eat coffe beans and piss blood like you do on clan servers.
Basicly I find xp save to be a good therapy.
I generally play xpsave servers because I never usually get to corporal in a 3 map campaign. I think there should be options to reset every 3 maps, 6 maps, or 12 maps, because some people can never get any xp, except by spamming stuff. I wanted that dual pistols so what do I do? Fragfest. I usually never get them in a 3 map campaign though.
I generally like 6 map xpsave, or maybe less, like around 4-5 maps. I don’t like xpsave where it is like until you get 5000 xp, or a week xpsave etc etc. I don’t like how I’m general, and I have all this gear, and that I own someone because I have all this gear. I also don’t like it when I don’t get any gear because I suck too much.
So generally, I think the 3, 6, 12, is correlated to skill of player. Noobs play on 12 map xpsave, average people play on 6, then pros play on 3. That way, no one is frustrated in staying as a general forever, and not making it to general.
I picked 3, 6, and 12, because ETQW will have 12 maps, and that it can be bunched together correctly. I didn’t pick 9, even if it was a multiple of 3, because you go through the first 9 maps, then the next campaign would feature, blarg, I don’t know how to describe it, I just know it does not work.
As much as I dislike playing on servers with jaymod, blaming the mod maker for his mod’s popularity seems to me quite odd. If people don’t want to play with jaymod they should blame the server admins, if anything.
This was supported in the original game. Actually, it consists of nothing more than making a campaign with 6 maps.
After the campaign was finished, it would reset everyone’s XP.
