Public Interview / Question List

(poiza) #1

Hello Splash Damage!

Checking out tons of previews and official promo content didnt give me enough information. So I took responsibility to publish few of my questions to feed advanced gamers with a bit more information about game play and some other info.

Class Balance.

 1. Is there armor / hp difference between classes. And if so, does armor reflects movement speed?
 2. Does all classes are able to use all kinds of gadgets / vechicles. Or only specific class can be pilots, drivers and others can only get inside etc.
 3. Is there primary jobs for classes. Like in CTF style games - fastest units (usuall called scouts) are grabbing flags and running mad around, while other do support, some are designated deffenders? So does ETQW provide class specific roles for achieving special objectives?
 4. Do you keep in mind class differences when you create map envirement? Like this one is “medic” challenge, or that one is "who got better sniper - wins " . Or maps are created as the playground for players creative approuch?
 5. Can you switch classes by grabbing equipment from corpses?
 6. Whats the smartest class in there, which require most thinking then aimed shooting ? : )
 7. Whats more important to win - players skill or player quantity? Can a half sized team of hardcore quakers win vs full team of medium players? How this one is balanced?

Server / Game Envirement

 1. Would there be global server database or any kind of system that will track your “account”?
 2. How ranking is designated to reflect gameplay? RPG style - higher rank - better equipment? Leader style - servers with minimum rank requirement etc? Do ranks give options to become squad leaders, release special game features (artillery in mind).
 3. Any clan / team support ? Special interface to meet up etc.
 4. Would there be tournament support? (a tournament, with many games, where one army will have to win majority of games on several maps to get a full victory).

And last hardest question: Whats your favorite : a. Quake 3 team dm, b. CS, c. Quake 1 : Team Fortress, d. Battlefield 2 alike games ? :))))

Sorry for grammar and orph, im not native english speaker.

I’ll answer a couple of these, but you’ll have to wait for the rest:

Classes get unique gadgets and tools, but anyone can use any vehicle.

Somewhat, yes - the entire game is based around this concept

We design around the classes abilities and leave them flexible enough for interesting strategies.

(Schizma) #3

Classes get unique gadgets and tools, but anyone can use any vehicle.

Does this mean that GDF can drive Strogg vehicles or vice versa?

(kamikazee) #4

I believe that that was the only limitation, vehicles can’t be used across teams.

I would like to add though that most of these questions answer themselves if you play W:ET and take in account that the gameplay should remain.

Eventually, I allso found this chatlog of an IRC conversation with Locki. The poor guy was bombarded with questions, (Mostly from a BF player’s view) so see if you can find some interesting things there.
Do remember that nothing’s final yet.

(B0rsuk) #5

Gods !! Locki must have angelic patience.

(Zyklon) #6

(Rhoades) #12

Strogg don’t know how to use earth technology and earthlings dont know how to use strogg technology.

(Zyklon) #13

mmmmmmmmmmm pai!
It’s supposed to be “paid” of course. Shame on me.

(Salteh) #14

pai is like :tapir:
Must use every chance I get to sneak some pai onto the forums!

(Schizma) #15
Strogg don’t know how to use earth technology and earthlings dont know how to use strogg technology.
Yes, but I would think that after going to war against eachother, they would try to learn the others technology to copy or find weaknesses in. Maybe not though, since this is the prequel to Quake and they have just barely gone to war. (havent they? sorry my knowledge of Quake history is a little lacking)

(Shanks) #16

00:02.19 ( @xGx|marrafakka ) i gotta get the basics of etqw before i convert
00:02.26 ( Locki ) yeah good idea
00:02.49 ( Locki ) Then you’ll be ready for Quake Wars!

lol, at least he’s honest

(ValinoR) #17

Oh god hope they don’t remove that you can see the health on your enemy and teamm8’s…

(Lanz) #18

Funny, I thought the exact opposite, that I hope they would remove the visible health of the enemy.

Two things:

 1. If you know the health of your enemy you will know when to attack and when to fall back based on this info, which is just wrong in my book.
 2. Hiding in any form will be pointless if a big red sign show them where you are.

I read somewhere that the thing most people complained about during E3 was the health signs so I guess it’s safe to say they’ll change it, hopefully they remove it completely.

(jjpron) #19

Will this game be free? I mean W:ET was free, why now we have to pay for this!? LOL

(Lanz) #20

You’re trying to be funny right? I said trying since it’s not funny anymore… :nag:
