Simply stated, I would like a linux native port of this game. If it exists, I will buy brink if it doesn’t I will not and will continue playing etqw until there aren’t anymore servers.
Port for Linux.
no. winxp is the best, you should try it if you still use win 2000. that’s why people don’t migrate to vista/win7. there’s no need to.
some guys here, who post, miss the idea of this thread, i didn’t asked for your long long descriptions about HOW bad is it to have linux and HOW bad idea is to make port for linux, or how bad it is when the car is getting broken while you want it to be not broken because you don’t want to fix things.[…]
We just want Linux Port. Nothing more, nothing less.
if asmo doesn’t rant about stats he can be pretty reasonable!
No way… I really dont believe that
Even if you just install the basic OS on a clean good pc, never update, never turn pc on…it will crash. BUT, so will most of the Linux distro’s. Only system I havent seen crash is my mac (only OSX). But my windows pcs, since windows 3.0 and my linux distro’s all have… and I am a clean pc nerd…
I think linux support is necessary for a game. Linux users are the nerds a game needs for mods/maps/fixes and whatnot.
sorry you can’t setup your computer with windows, but what I said is true, no crashes. But I got rid of my G4 because OS9 crashed if you looked at it twice in a row. Guess it depends on what you do.
That said, I still think a Linux port is a good idea, just wondering if they have staff to do it.
I even wrote a letter to Zenimax like 2 months ago, asking them to not block any developments in the Linux-Client-Direction and got a reply stating that they’d hear my concerns.
lol, but yes, Linux support is quite neat… cause my Linux install is faster than my windows install, and I want FAST =P
i vote tumbs up 4 Subj and usually by money too.
cause im usually limited[as many other consumer does]on money, im always pick up title, with native Linux client.
p.s.
note to publishers: Linux market share similar to MacOS, or even bigger[depend social/biz layer]
You’ve got no clue what you’re on about do you?
Any numbers to back that statement up? I’d like to see numbers of that statement you’ve just made.
Don’t bother to search since you aren’t gonna find any.

Do some research before yelling outloud something that will be labeled as rubbish.
Hey Apple fan-boy, Wikipedia is not a reasonable source. I would also like to know the organization that came up with these “statistics”.

- Apple-rebranded[rescin-ed, API-overwrapped]BSD suxx.
- you can’t defeat me, evil overlord ! cus my Kung-Foo was better !!
- sure you like to see those numbers, like everyone does.
simple example - every single one copies of “Macintosh” i encounter here, countain installed Windows copy or Linux[more typical for PPC or ColdFire-based Mac’s]
he dare enough only to see own defeat !
mwhahahahaha !!! Evil laugh
he mean, ANY game should support Linux “just because”.
but ironically, its eventual move for many publishers/developers, stopped for years, mainly no by Linux diversity or IP issues, but shady, but strong pressure from MS/BSA/RIAA/MPAA and others.
ironically its serves more bad than good to them, as well as “offensive defense” used “in general” in other context. using brains instead of muscles/guns… thats matter.
but hopefully, some things changed.
Like I said, Linux users are techy. A community needs techy people to fix/build stuff.
Not saying all mappers are linux users, just that linux users are more likely to try this kind of stuff out.
But that’s just speculating, you’re welcome to prove me wrong.
@brbrbr:
I don’t know which language is your mother tongue, but I’ve got to read your posts at least 5 times before I can understand some of it.
You say Apple sucks? Why? In my opinion Apple builds the best systems and has the best operating system. Mac OS X is way better than Windows and it’s also better than Linux. It’s fast, stable and works very intuitive.
I’ve got a MacBook Pro, obviously it’s running Mac OS X and that’s the only operating system I’ll run on my Mac. I absolutely don’t feel the need to run Windows or Linux on a Mac. I run Linux on non-Apple systems and I don’t use Windows at all.
Well there used to be more significant differences between OS’s but now they are all kind of levelling up, the only thing that is now the biggest factor is that fact that some of them have already grown alot in the market, so it’s harder for linux to make it’s mark.
Also it’s not needed to install multiple OS’s to be able to get around normally, but for instance if you are studying or gaming, then most of the time you need windows along side linux/max to play games or use programs for school.
Of course there are always work around and stuff, but I find that it’s often at a price.
