They’re the actual number of votes if you look at the number to their left. Poll fail. heh.

  1. I really don’t like PC FPS controls.

This poll allows people to vote for more then one system, for as you read in the comments, some people will be playing it on more then one platform. This causes the poll to calculate in this manner. The numbers are still accurate just some of the platforms will be sharing the attention in some homes.

I like to sit on my couch and play games, not my workstation. I like the fact that for the price of a decent videocard, I can buy a console and several games. I also HATE the mouse/keyboard control system. If you’re good with and used to it, that’s fine. I don’t see why some people seem to struggle with having all your controls within the range of your thumbs, but whatever.

Console gaming is more relaxed, economical, and casual. Not everyone has 1000 bucks to drop into their PC every year to keep it up to the ever evolving game standard. If I had the type of job where I could afford to do that, I’d likely not have time to play any games anyway.

(Senyin) #46

Silly question, but I was wondering how on consoles people switch weapons.

(Otto) #47

Maybe some one can answer this better then I can, but if you watch this video: http://brinkthegame.com/media/videos/?id=2 “Part one container city”(@1:50), it shows how at command posts placed at various locations through out a map one can chose and customize their load out, among other options.

If you were asking the less complicated question, “Which button do I push to change weapons?” I do not posses that information. As a standard of many console games, it is believed that a controller’s buttons will have some level of customization, there for one can most likely pick which button one may wish to serve it’s purpose.

(xTriXxy) #48

lol you failed:)
its because you can select more options than 1

Thanks for pointing out what someone else did. thumbsup

Agree and that’s primarily why I moved over to consoles (360), however, if you choose to not upgrade your system, it will last a while. I just downloaded Crysis 2 PC demo on Steam over the weekend just to see if I could run it. Basically, I was testing my system. Surprise! I was able to run it. Granted I had to compromise my graphics/resolution to…I think it’s called “Gamer” setting, and ran it at 1360x768…or something like that. But it ran well enough for me to be competitive. Smooth enough that I didn’t have a seizure.

That-being-said, I also tested my rig at the “Hardcore” and 1920x1080 and, ummmm, well, I took about 4 paces and my rig locked up…that lasted about 10 seconds. Looked around a bit and then when I hit “W”, my PC said, “F You, I ain’t made for this…”

Running a q6600, 2x8800GT’s in SLI, 4 gigs of RAM…got it late 2007.

Your rig is more than enough to run and maximize settings
on any game today if the game is optimised enough for PC (without dx11).

Brink graphics runs on idTech4 (doom3, quake 4/wars, prey) modified engine
so you’re more than fine with your rig unless SD will console-port brink
without good optimization for PC.

You’ve talked about crysis 2.
With your rig you can maximise crysis 1. Crysis 2 graphics are not
better than crysis 1 but still you can not run it on high settings.
Weired ha … No - just not optimised enough.

PC gaming isn’t really expensive. My pc is almost 3yrs old and runs most of the games near 120fps on low. Long ago i predicted updating every 3yrs, but seems hardware development has slowed down, i don’t see the need to upgrade for another year.

(Otto) #53

Hardware development is marching on quite nicely actually. It’s the software and game development that is dragging its heals. Why? Because we are all slaves to the console. The reason our 3 year old hardware still works fine is because console hardware is now FIVE (ps3=7900gt) and SIX (xbox360=ati X1800) years old. None of the consoles available have direct X 10/11. This is why we have few games that look much better then crisis or far cry 2, the game developers want to keep the games both compatible cross platform compatible and not to not overly outshine the console which could hurt console related sales.

All must bow to the All inferior console, Long live the King…sigh.

Side note, tho pc hardware can reach the sky in price, PC games are often less expensive, even the biggest cross platform titles at launch time are almost always $10 or better cheaper, combine that with the crazy cheap Steam sales, no monthly online service fee’s(subscription games not included) you can stand to save a good chunk of money over a systems life span.
A rough example, lets say customer A bought a PS3 at the time of launch cost $600+tax Customer B built a gaming computer for $1000+tax at the same time. Each Customer bought 5 games a year for 5 years, Customer B saving $10per game, over the the average life time span (5years) of ether system Customer B saved $250. This principal only works as well as to how many games you end up buying.

(CVIChEK) #54

But only if Brink has splitscreen on Xbox, if not maybe he will buy it too.

(Maawdawg) #55

I’ll be playing on 360 to start because the vast majority of my gaming has been done on that console in the past 3 years due to lack of a solid gaming PC. In that time i have built up a solid list of quality FPS players to team up with and most of the people I play L4D games on console with will be in on it. I will get it on PC as well at some point since I just built a new gaming rig a couple months ago and want to be able to pit it through its FPS paces. The double dip will probably come right when the first sale hits on Steam or D2D so I don’t end up spending $110 total.

(Apples) #56

Well you work hard during what, 1 entire summer and you are good to go…

(MatthiasK75) #57

whoa whoa whoa guys lets hold up the hate for one second for this ground breaking announcement

ps3 now has 16 people, which means… we can now fill a game.

congrats to everyone involved and feel free to give yourself a nice pat on the back

now you may resume your mindless bickering

(DoctorPazuzu) #58

I’d rather get it for PC but seeing how all my friends are getting it for the xbox I’ll have to go with the xbox.

xbox controllers were specifically made for gaming, keyboards were not.
