Please make a report cheaters feature

VAC from steam is really useless !!! hope BRINK not become like COD !
some cheaters video :

there’s tons of vidéos like this ! servers are litterally full of cheaters ! (I dont play COD !)
and if you dont know how to cheat there some tutorials ! (on PS3 same video on PC but don’t remenber where)

Are you really gonna use VAC ? this anti cheat system is just a big joke !

(Humate) #42

LOL @ the dude calling him out for having a bot.
And his response: “its called the death machine okay”

(SockDog) #43

Seems any fixed anti-cheat is going to be bypassed and a reporting system while it could be useful has to ask who is going to run it and fund it.

I think in the short term a anti-friend list could work. Allowing each player to determine if they want to play with those people. Maybe off the back of something like that a top XX number of people could be looked at to determine if they are running hacks.

For me, just not seeing cheaters, griefers or generally annoying people would be a nice solution.

(Herandar) #44

Wouldn’t we need some sort of leaderboard to figure out who the top people are??

A utopian vision I hope we all experience someday.

No, we wouldn’t. Just because there’s no leaderboard doesn’t mean there aren’t stats available to be looked at by anti-cheat admins.

I just don’t see why people cheat in the first place. How can you get a feeling of accomplishment? I hate even playing single player games with cheats on since it takes away from the enjoyment.

No challenge = no satisfaction.

Some people don’t care about challenge, only winning and/or having fun.

(LyndonL) #48

Those people should be neutered so they can’t reproduce.

(H0RSE) #49

Even if it only applies to single player? Little harsh, don’t you think.

Well I was referring to a more realistic way to block these types of people and so lessen their ability to dictate normal people’s enjoyment.

Of course I’d love that utopia too

(LyndonL) #51

No, multiplayer

Same goes for people who tag walls, and rape, and etc etc… YEAH CAPITAL PUNISHMENT

And no anesthesia! We want them to feel the punishment!

VAC bans in WAVES, it does not ban you as soon as it detects your hack.

this means people that are detected can still play for period of time before their are greeted with a ban.
The reason for this is simple:

Hacker goes online with a hack,he gets banned instantly.
Now he knows for sure that the hack is detected, goes back to the cheating community and warns them.

With delayed bans however he can never be sure wich of his dozens of hacks is detected.
what if he used 3 different versions/hacks, he cant know wich of the 3 hacks are detected and wich are safe, and thus he cant warn his fellow cheaters…

(Cankor) #54

lol, who’s talking single player? Why would anyone care if someone cheated at single player, they aren’t screwing up other peoples fun in that case. Nothing wrong with it at all.

(H0RSE) #55

I was replying to this:

(LyndonL) #56

Yep. But the context was multiplayer.

(Herandar) #57

How is the context of that sentence… … …Oh, wait, I see what you did there!!

(Jeebs) #58

bad idea, you would get 12 year olds reporting pros, just need a solid ac, ESL just made a half decent one use that.

(Weapuh) #59

It only bothers who ever has to check the reports :stuck_out_tongue: otherwise it’s funny. ESL one is pretty baller, except it acts as a system driver, how would that work for consoles?

(SockDog) #60

Maybe there are some legs in making cheat detection a crowd sourcing task. At least for something like the first wave of detection where you need to filter a lot of information but accuracy isn’t a critical requirement. Attach some in game value/reward for people who contribute their time, make the process totally painless and easily accessible and you could have something.

Way I see it is the game would capture and upload random (ish) activity for reported users. This would then be rendered in a video format playable within the game and via a website. Users would then flag suspicious activities by timestamp or no suspicious activity at all. If enough users flag enough suspicious activity then the reported gamer is given a higher priority for scrutiny and ultimately banning and hack registration.
