Please make a report cheaters feature

So, basicly I hope guys at spash damage do a report cheaters feature ingame, so players can report cheaters, thats all thks.

Yes a decent anti cheat would be preferable, but theres always cheats and cheaters and people who make cheats and sell them, and anti cheat programs cant detect all of them, so would be cool a cheat report feature of some sort. Look at Black Ops for example, its a recent game and uses VAC and already seen plenty of aimboters and haxers with no doubt they here using some sort of hax.

As i sayd VAC doesnt detects all the cheats out there, and about how would you report it, look at Black Ops system with the theathre mode and report cheater ingame menu looks a good idea to me, and about who will review it, staff from splash damage ofcurse.

My point was VAC isn’t a very good anti cheat (from what I gather anyway) and something better would be welcome.

I just like to say that the system in BlackOps is rubbish, sure you have theatre mode and then you can spec all players. But then you have to finish the game, go out of the game, hope the recorder worked.

Watch the demo and then you can see yup, this guy is cheating. What then? Recording it is pointless since VAC doesn’t ban for video proof afaik.

And the report button is also ‘worthless’. As in it might give you a good feeling that you are contributing to getting that guy banned.
But at the end of the day do you really think that button does anything else? I haven’t heard a single case of somebody getting banned for being reported too much.

Man whiny people (who think anyone who’s better than them is hacking) are gonna love this.

Too bad they don’t work…cant remember the number of times people accused and reported me for hacking in source games and blackops…still didnt get banned.

The video thing is good (especially if you can do things like show skeleton on it). I think it would also help guys who think they’re up against a hacker maybe realize the guy wasn’t hacking after all after they spec from his viewpoint.

And you don’t need someone “official” to ban the guy, you just need to get him banned off your favourite servers. So you post the video proof at the server’s website and ask them to ban him from their server. Hopefully they have someone with half a brain who can review the video and make a determination, and if they agree they ban the guy from the server, and if they disagree they don’t.

If they have a report a cheater button it should:

  1. Send the server demo to the owner of the server.
  2. Run a check against the guy who pushed the button. If he has a history of false alarms, then you get to ban him for being a whiner. :slight_smile:

(Actually, I am kidding as I don’t think there should be such a button as I agree there would be way more false alarms than actual hackers getting reported. Having to consiously make a vid and turn it in to someone is enough trouble to where people won’t do it as casually as they’d press a button if it were that easy).

best advise I was ever given when i became an admin for the first time was

“don’t look for cheaters, look for reasons why someone is not be cheating”

How many people with a report button are gonna do that? nope it’s “waaaaaahhh he has killed me loads, he must be cheating” gotta love the ego,

admins can’t be on all the time, but when they are on they are often as Nail says the best form of defence against cheaters and whiny arsed kids
