Maybe there are some legs in making cheat detection a crowd sourcing task. At least for something like the first wave of detection where you need to filter a lot of information but accuracy isn’t a critical requirement. Attach some in game value/reward for people who contribute their time, make the process totally painless and easily accessible and you could have something.
Way I see it is the game would capture and upload random (ish) activity for reported users. This would then be rendered in a video format playable within the game and via a website. Users would then flag suspicious activities by timestamp or no suspicious activity at all. If enough users flag enough suspicious activity then the reported gamer is given a higher priority for scrutiny and ultimately banning and hack registration.
a very nice concept. i don’t mind to spare a few minutes a day to work as a referee. so my idea would be, a “ref.-button” where i am automatically redirected to a server where a possible cheaters has been reported/flagged and i as the assigned referee can judge by spectating that guy if he’s to be banned or not.
sure the referees have to be assorted from beta crowd or community to assure they are dedicated but that at least would be like voluntary work for “your” game.
