maybe go to EA forums, ask that BF2 be given ET gameplay
PLEASE INCLUDE STATS AND RAKINGS in Quake Wars!
At least that’s more worth a try instead of asking for BF2 features here… Might yield more results.
Stop scaring away potential customers. :x
It is possible to like aspects of a game that you guys think is the “biggest pile of dung ever” (which surely isn’t true) and still look forward to ET:QW.
It is possible to discuss features in a civilized way even if they are part of said game.
I’d rather explain why I think persistent ranking and unlocks is a bad idea and convince him to play ET:QW anyway than send him back to BF2. (Getting ET gameplay in BF2 could also mean fewer ET:QW players, so lets hope they don’t make BF2 better.)
This isn’t xfire.
Another person that has felt the brunt of splashdamage forumers.
Not such a good thing.
Ghaib, if you’re still there, weed through the nonsense and discuss this with those who are on a level other than “flame”.
IT HAS BEEN SAID BEFORE THAT THERE WILL BE RANKS AND SUCH DURING THE CAMPAIGN, BUT ONLY FOR THAT CAMPAIGN!
After it is over everything will reset.
I would however like online stats that assign you a rank, but really no in game advantage. Just something to show that you’re a veteren player, maybe like badges or something?
And according to the rules of MMO play, once your ‘character/account/whatever’ has a ‘rank’ or a ‘status’ you are more likly to continue playing that game, and more specificly that character/account than with normal Mplayer games where you assign yourself a name and just kill stuff.
If you have an account with online stats that means you have something that is persistant, which is a concept from MMO gameplay.
And yes, online stats mean the difference between playing a game as my main game and not playing a game much for me.
Can there please be a jump counter ? I want a water marked jump counter that tells me how many times I have EVER jumped. PLEASE ?! lol…j/k :nag: :tapir:
This kind of reception is what turns so many people off to forums in general…I’ve seen this on so many different forums over the years.
Post something to arouse the ire of the forum grognards and be ridden out of town on a rail?
What kind of “Community” is that?
Personally I’d be less inclined to buy a game if I recieved such a sh!tty welcome on the developers forums…
to add:
Not to mention that there is just no reason for such things.
edit*- I meant the brunt-ing.
Typically, you recognize a veteran player when you see he’s got very good aim, is good at teamwork and goes straight for objectives. Only the first can be easily measured, so what’s the point of stats?
What does it tell you when you see a player with 5000xp on a server ? That he’s playing Wolf:ET since yesterday. No indication of skill other than patience.
Stats breed the kind of player that votes to kick you after you fire the Rail Gun, or TK you if you’re about to steal their plane. They care of nothing else than size of their penises. I hope such players won’t switch from Battlefield 2. I don’t want them to play ET:QW with me.
I agree, there’s no reason to flame people just because they like some game feature you don’t, or like a game you don’t. OTOH, anyone who has frequented game forums before shouldn’t be shocked by this kind of thing. People are rude on the internet. Get used to it or get out :moo:
My personal opinion is that BF2 style unlocks and medals have a negative impact overall. They encourage stat-whoring, and trying to enforce any anti-statpadding rules inevitably causes conflict. Simple kill/death/accuracy stats are less of a problem (since you don’t get any real gameplay advantage) but they can still affect the game and cause conflict (things people /killing to avoid a ‘death’ or not gibbing to keep their ACC up).
For myself, the ideal to me would be optional detailed personal stats for each player on their own system, with no public stats at all, but any other system that doesn’t give people gameplay advantages would be fine too. I play for the game, not the stats.
Why do people want stats. So they can say “look at my stats, arent i sooooooooooo leet” or “it dont matter if i lost, my stats still say i got dem mad skillz” and so forth. Arogant knob jockeys!
It may breed players who are merely stat whores and not interested in the objectives. As long as they maintain a better kills to deaths ratio for example, they will be happy to rambo it up at the expense of their team mates so long as it improves their stats!
@teh flaming. It only a bit harmless banter i thought. I do feel with the impending release o QW alot of people have been turning up here asking silly questions at times which may try people’s patience a bit.
In the spirt of reconciliation i offer this![]()
h = hype o'metre
s = sd fanboy level
v = The victim's number of forum posts
f = flame level
h * s
f = ------
v
And as it seems both the hype o’metre and the fanboy’ism are climbing through the roof here.
Ive seen BF2’s ranking system and its really cool, i think it would be a big part of the game if you included ranks.
pleazzzzze, don’t expect everyone to agree with what you say. i just took a look in the bf2 forum. i was wondering if you’re more constructive there. apperently you aren’t. besides your bashing of developers and publisher, i think you should read your own words and think them over, like in here:
Which EA IDIOT had the great idea to let server admins decide if it’s possible/not possible to munity against a commander?
A lot of server have turned this off, so u can’t vote munity at all… I’ve seen lots of times where commanders just sit on ground defence to get the hours…
http://totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48125
this “sitting around to get the hours” usually derives from permanent ranking because some guys simply keep xp-whoring just to rise their permanent rank.
you can read in the many previews and interviews here that permanent ranking was considered, but there were several important reasons why it was dropped:

again: if you want to convince people, you better come up with arguments, not with a feeling.
regarding:
reading your bashing of developers and publisher and players on the bf2 forum, i wonder how long it would take you to start the same flaming here? i seriously wonder why they didn’t already ban you from the bf2 forum.
@shifty: why do you think that? where’s the advantage, where’s the disadvantage? and most important: what benefit do ALL players get of it, not only you? throw in the arguments for discussion
Why do people want stats. So they can say “look at my stats, arent i sooooooooooo leet” or “it dont matter if i lost, my stats still say i got dem mad skillz” and so forth. Arogant knob jockeys!
Forum signature images with your kill/death ratio (or your unlocks, or your ribbons, or whatever maps you’ve played the most) are the new e-dick.
Ok I seldom post here but this is something that I must speak out…
PLS do NOT have a stat system like BF2. I play BF2 (yes, am ashamed. I was scammed by the demo) and I hate the stat system… it has brought nothing but frustration and problems to gameplay on the whole. Stat whores. Can you imagine XP whores in ET but 100x worse?
:moo:
