When they said you don’t need a good pc to run it, do ya think my 6 years old, stock pc could run it.
For comparison, I can play Wolfenstein '09, CoD MW2 and Red Alert 3 Uprising “fine” on lower specs, but I can’t run Crysis on ultra low or Black Ops.

Wait for the system requirements and than you’ll know.
Yea, I’m aware that sys req weren’t published yet, but I meant it as what “not the best pc required to run it” would mean today.
I think he’s just saying that because the interviewer is PS3-oriented. Also, I seem to recall that the PS3 is the most difficult to code, and therefore requires the most resources.
I think he’s just saying that PC will be given equal importance because the people here are PC oriented. (not really)
I think there have been plenty of threads discussing “port crappiness” already. There’s nothing to worry about with Brink. It would make more sense to assume Brink will run on any decent gaming PC today.
Multiplayer games, especially shooters, it’s best to get a stable frame rate above 40 average. Higher averages just mean the system is more likely to handle spikes and not dip below 30 too much. Stuttering at around 25 will mean death because there isn’t enough information being drawn fast enough to react appropriately in a shooter.
That’s not always a performance weighted choice, but for best visibility. Turn off all the extras that are distracting or blend the opponents too much. It’s a great advantage when you’re already used to all the graphics and don’t care for beauty. For me things like that sometimes make the game less immersive. I’m now wandering in Tron-land when I know that there is much better settings that everyone else is using. Sometimes for me it just gets old to do stuff like that. I want some features to still be on. Once all of Brink’s allowed variables are discovered there will be a lot of trial and error to do.
We’ll probably see some type of developer kit considering SD started off I believe as a small modding team and developed into an actual developer of games, which means they could relate to it.
60 and above.U must optimize your settings that u have the least fps drop .Constant 60 is the key.U may also do it with a command on your cfg .Im sure brink will have something like a command to cap it at 60 and im not talking v-sync cause it lags your mouse
Is id tech4 similar to the quake 3 engine where fps was playing a critical role to movement?
No it’s not, that was also fixed in Quake Live which does use idtech3.
I miss when pressing a button meant it worked immediately. none of this movement delay garbage that prevails today. “Oh I’m dead, but i couched before he started shooting at me. Oh sorry we make half second delays on your control becau…?”
Oh!I miss that too:< .The funny thing is that many developers put it cause they say its realistic:S
Seriously try to turn 90 degrees in real life ,its so fast as it can get

They “put it in” because they screwed up. Controller latency is a big issue with developers, the guys who know what they are doing spend a lot of time keeping it as low as possible. It’s worse playing games on rear projection TV’s because there’s even more delay on those. Same issue with some wireless mice, they introduce a delay that isn’t otherwise there.
I can see from game play videos certain things I really don’t want to make it into the PC version…

The big wheel that comes up with objectives? Yeh, that needs to go, we sit closer and having that pop up would be silly.

Please don’t make the same mistake other developers have recently and give us a fixed Field of View which is far too small for pc gaming. If you do fix it please fix it at 90 not 70.

105 would be nicer.
And i hope brink will not be too straining to stop me getting 120 fps in brink. I play with about 250 in etqw and its lovely, but 120 would do fine
I hope I can turn everything down and play at 120+ fps constant no matter what!!
Im lookin for a good crt 17-19" any suggestions?
