Due to a printing error in the April 2007 issue, pages 30 and 31 were mistakenly re-run where pages 40 and 41 were supposed to be. As a result, our Infernal preview was run twice and our Enemy Territory Quake Wars story not at all. We sincerely apologize for the error. The good news is that you don’t have to miss out on the story:
mmh look at the diamond shaped icons, it seems that only the Engineer, the Soldier and the CovOp can do objectives.
the engineer constructs
the solider destroys
the covop hacks
what about the other two classes, the medic and the fieldop? Can they do objectives?
the medic could collect blood/tissue samples, or inject a virus into a prototype, augmented Strogg.
the covops could sabotage a cannon or… something.
Some people still insisted that QW won’t have accounts like BF2…how can you have e-mails, IMs and all that without accounts :)[/quote]There will be accounts, but no accounts like BF2. Just take a look at their booster pack collection and you know what I mean.
After studying that map a bit, it looks like the last Strogg territory never changes hands. The part their base is in also holds the final objective area and a capturable spawn. Does this mean the Strogg can deploy anti personel turrets and the like around the capturable spawn (their territory) and endlessly kill spawning GDF? I’m still trying to figure out the whole mechanic of territory and deploying, but thats what it looks like.
Also, on a side note. Didn’t the reviewer say the GDF had to build a bridge on this map? There isn’t any objective like that shown in the map. A and B are the two towers and if you look between them it looks like a bridge.
Interesting map. It would be nice to see some screens of it just so that we could get an impression of its size, couse it looks like there isnt much room for vehicles. It seems this map is also devided in two parts- one with vehicles and one with only infantry. Will this be the case with all of the maps?
Also, can anyone idetifiy which weapon is the character in the screenshot holding? I think it isnt the standard assault rifle (it has a diffrent sight), maybe its the soldiers heavy mg?
Actualy Strogg territory is devided in two parts. I think that when the GDF complete their firist objective (1 - when they construct the EMP Distruptor) they also capture the territory around the capturable spawn inside the Strogg base. So Strogg cannot build any more turrets around that spawn as soon as the GDF complete their firist objective.
However it seems that GDF can build turrets around the capturable spawn even before they capture it just as long as they have completed the firist objective. Can it be that the GDF can use turrets in offense since they can build them inside the area that is initialy controled by Strogg ?
Nice article. In-game email, ranking and instant messaging, yay!
I’m rather surprised at how many maps have the GDF on offense and Strogg on defense. “Sewer” sounds more infantry oriented than most maps as well, and those recent indoor screenshots were probably from this map. Now if we could only get some info/pics on the more urban looking levels!
