One man mission: Fueldump

Its not the size of the hardware, its what you can do with it that counts.

Take an everyday hacker… half of them use systems consisting of parts without casings, holdings or fittings of any kind. The specs of these machines are so low there lucky to run Quake/Quake 2 let alone ET, Farcry, Painkiller etc… but you wouldnt mess, would you?

(DarkangelUK) #22

Suppose i could show a teaser demo of me getting up to lower spawn on FD. Here’s a hint… airstrafe  Not at home just now but i’ll post it when i am.

Oh, and SuppleDepot wall? Already owned… twice  but not giving anymore away, you’ll have to wait for the movie.

(DarkangelUK) #23

Here’s the demo http://darkangel.diesa.co.uk/trickjumps/DAfueldumptowertolowerbalcony.dm_83

(BlackDeath) #24

ohhh, teasers to the SD forum community

(CM..Punk) #25

I think ET is more reliant on the processor than the graphics card

Well in that case I have an XP3000+, 400mhz fsb mobo, ddr400, etc

(Vaibhav) #26

umm i got a problem platying demos. i keep gettin a message sayin" Enemy Territory/ET Pro mismatch"

(StinkyPinky) #27

Sorry, for the ignorant people out here - what are fps, how do you change them and how does it help you? Also could you post how you do the different trickjumps… I want to learn but noone will tell me. Thanks…

Create a shortcut to your et.exe and amend the target so it looks something like:-

“C:\Program Files\Enemy Territory\et.exe” +set fs_game etpro

That will start ET with ETPro loaded, enabling you to watch demos recorded with ETPro.

FPS = frames per second, and certain values (43,76,125,333) make you jump higher / longer than other values because of the way Quake3 engine games calculate the effect of gravity. The higher of those numbers you can achieve the better, with some jumps only being possible at certain FPS.

What FPS you can get on your PC depends on what processor / graphics card it has, etc., you won’t be able to dramtically increase your FPS from what it is now without a hardware upgrade, although a little tweaking of graphics settings (like setting everything to lowest possible detail) will give you some improvement. The best thing to do is enable the FPS readout (type /cg_drawfps 1 in the console), figure out which of those numbers is the highest you can consistently maintain, and then lock your FPS at that rate with /com_maxfps 43/76/125 etc.

(pgh) #29

And whatever your com_maxfps is your probably best setting cl_maxpackets to the same value.

(mouse) #30

Can you explain the benefit of that please, pgh?

(KingJackaL) #31

Have a read here:
http://ucguides.savagehelp.com/Quake3/connection.html

…it describes that point reasonably ( and a bunch of other stuff  ).

(pgh) #32

chuffed

Dont even need to post to answer… \o/

<3 KingJackal!

(Vaibhav) #33

umm i tried playing in ET Pro menu. still got same error message

(Kendle) #34

You might want to check out this thread on Bani’s forum:-

http://bani.anime.net/banimod/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3392

As I understand it you’re trying to watch demo recorded in one version of ET / ETPro with a different version of ET / ETPro.

(pgh) #35

Different as in older.

Hint to demo posters, state which version of ETPro and wether its the bugfixes or not in the thread…

(ElderNewb) #36

For ref i believe i am running et pro 3.0.2 (latest i think ) and was able to view the demo

(Vaibhav) #37

k i tried startin ET with “+set fs_game etpro” and got this error:

am i doin sumthin wrong?

(Sick Boy) #38

yeah you need a space between et.exe and +

(Vaibhav) #39

i get the same error after adding the space

(faltytower) #40

It needs to be enclosed in quotation marks.

Like this

“C:\Program Files\Enemy Territory\et.exe” +set fs_game etpro

Not this

"C:\Program Files\Enemy Territory\et.exe +set fs_game etpro
