One man mission: Fueldump

(Sick Boy) #1

This demo shows how you can finish fueldump on your own without the tank

I simulated 333fps for this though it was not strictly necessary, but just to make it easier for me  (it now took me just under one full fueldump time to record it, it would have taken me years on 125fps). So it also shows how much advantage a top-end PC can be. Maybe even that much of an advantage it should be nerfed?

If you want to see for yourself how much influence this has:
-start a etpro 3.0.0+ server
-load a map
-/forcecvar pmove_msec 3
-/pmove_fixed 1
-try a fancy jump. Some recommended easy ones: over fueldump wall, on top of the mountain in battery, any jump near the radar parts. If you can do a basi strafejump, you’ll make it

PS:
-credits to billy for finding the jump up to axis spawn  See his educational demo here
-pmove_msec 3 simulates 333fps (1000/3=333). Normally it is capped at 8 (1000/8=125)
-I used /nofatigue not because it was necessary but because I am a cheat4r :stuck_out_tongue:
-the demo is shocky because of the pmove_fixed I think
-last jump is probably not possible at 125fps or lower

Edit: to play demo’s copy them into your \etmain\demos folder and they should be listed under replays in the menu
or download a demo player tool like seismovision so you can just doubleclick on them

(Original_) #2

hoiw do you play demos?

(Sick Boy) #3

I edited the answer into the first post

(=DaRk=CrAzY-NuTTeR) #4

Main Menu > Replays

EDIT: Why do i need ETpro?

(Original_) #5

thanks
and nice… gonna tyry that later tonite!

(mouse) #6

very nice Sick, never knew you could come into the axis spawn that way. Gonna try that pmove_msec 3 thingy!

(DarkangelUK) #7

The demo is shaky cos you never set sv_fps the same as your com_maxfps

shaky demos get annoying after a while :frowning:

PS, i already got up to that axis spawn with normal settings… it’s in my movie

(Fusen) #8

was argueing with someone ine tpro channel about having a pc that can get 333 constant and personally I think its fine but some seem to think its a cheat!11!

huh, is this recommended? Never saw anyone setting sv_fps in their configs… I feel competition between Sickboy and Darkangel, cant wait till your movie comes out Dark

(eq-Shrike) #10

very nice , but isnt pmove normally set to 0 server side on most servers ?

(CM..Punk) #11

So show us then.

(pgh) #12

Man… I think DarkAngel and Sick Boy should release a movie together… double trick0rs…

(Sick Boy) #13

Either it’s enabled on every server, or it’s not needed to be enabled, I’m not sure :). But I can use pmove_fixed whenever I want it seems.
You can’t change the pmove_msec though without rcon

Well, maybe not a cheat, but it does give a considerable advantage to those who have it. Like jumping over the fueldump wall, if you practice for a while, you can do it in infinite loops without failing at 333fps. At 125fps, the jump is too though to even try it in a clanwar. This means, the engineer can try to sneak through the tunnels and jump over it without needing a covert ops. When axis have their defense set up in the fueldump base, it means that you have a new point of entry as allies, and not a bad one either! I’d prefer going over the roof instead of through the two wallbreach chokepoints anytime.
Nice place to panzer also
Other jumps are also a lot easier, like getting up the hill in battery. You can even do that without strafing or moving the mouse! Just press sprint, forward and jump on the right place, and you’re up there. Or the jumps towards the radarparts, easy shit. Jumping over supplydepot wall? No problem.

And then there’s the huge increase of speed when travelling over flat terrain. You can just keep hopping with you speedmeter into the red. Nearly twice as fast as normal sprinting.

You see this gives some serious things to consider for the defending team, tax changes are needed. And if you don’t have the same class of PC, you ARE disadvantaged.

(CM..Punk) #14

What sort of PC do you need for 333fps then? The highest rate I can keep constant is 76, but I only have a 9600XT.

 cant do any of them. And do you have demos for the battery and supplydepot jumps? Would definatly help i think

(BlackDeath) #16

I think ET is more reliant on the processor than the graphics card

(Fusen) #17

I talked with someone who tested a x800 and a 6800XT and said he was managing 333 in some maps and that was the same person I was argueing with saying having 333 isnt cheating we settled at it being a bug as its the physics fault for messing up with 333, ina few years or less even and people upgrade hardware a damn lot of people will be able to acheive 333 so it will be less of an advantage but its just got to make people more aware at the moment in matches =/

(pgh) #18

Tis indeed.

Tbh tho, if someones willing to go out and spend so much cash on a uber machine that could maintain 333 fps (which I doubt online at least) then they deserve there advantage… tho whats the point?

Loads of top tier players are still having to use maxfps 43 or 76 and they’d put on a good show…

(Vaibhav) #19

my pc jus bout hits 43 fps

(mouse) #20

like pgh says, there are many skilled players from east europe who play on pcs you wont even want to place your hand on, and they beat me blindfolded (especially with the etpro hitsounds).
