“In the second part of the Enemy Territory: Quake Wars interview, Mr. Wedgewood will talk about the vehicles and weapons players can expect to seen on the field of battle along with the campaigns they will be a part of.”

For the most part, I just want to see the weapons and the maps more than I want the game released.

Usually revealing the weapons and maps now mean a bad thing, since the game will take forever to release. But also a good thing because we know that the weapons and maps are final.

I think there’s a frighteningly big chance of you winning the next forum president elections :o

flees

edit:
I think they will put the next part of the interview online soonish :o

Almost… at… 5000… posts… = almost time for the game to be released.

Seriously there should be a time where SD says “we must release this game by this year” because if they didn’t do that, well I can’t find a joke about vaporware and ETQW.

I found some for DNF and Starcraft ghost.

SCG because the game became a ghost.
Duke nukem forever because it “Did not finish” or it took forever to make.

If ETQW does become vaporware, what kind of taglines will there be?

I don’t think waiting for the game to be release is giving us all the excitement, it is waiting for the release date to be announced that is the killer. If that’s not the case, waiting for the next bit of news is also a killer.

(DarkangelUK) #4

You going for 5000 posts or 5000 threads???

(Desoxy) #5

Hopefully not. ETQW is far from becoming vaporware… Did you have a look at how well it was already running back at E3, QCon and GC? And that was Alpha- or even Pre-Alpha-state (not sure on that one).

I actually appreciate the way SD are taking at developing the game, because what you suggest was done by DICE and in my opinion it wasn’t the best choice…

I’d like some more information on how the development is forthcoming, too. And I would surely not whine and open several threads in the forums when they push back the release date or change this or that gameplay mechanic. But the majority of people out there would get confused and a great many of them would complain (‘WHAT?! SOME DAYS AGO YOU SAID THE TECHNICIAN COULD STILL REVIVE?!?!’) - and I didn’t want to deal with them either. :stuck_out_tongue:

So let’s just see it that way: The less we bother them, the faster the game gets released. Be patient, thank you!

At least we know they are progressing, and the game is playable, although broken. I’m just afraid that they try to balance the game for too long that it would be the next Duke nukem forever. I just don’t know if the doom3 engine will show its age in the next few years.

Look at Blizzard’s starcraft ghost. Game was great at the e3’s and blizzcons, but as time passed by, the game started to show its age. Now blizzard postponed the game till whenever it might be.

The next DNF it may not be, but it might be the next Starcraft ghost.
I just don’t get why blizzard decided to make the game super great that they decided not to sell a game that already looked great.

Just watch as SD slaps down this game is indefinitely postponed.

Last year, I saw very good footages of SCG and I really wanted the game to come out badly. I was wondering why the game isn’t out. It looked cool. Turns out they wanted to make a multiplayer portion and took a long time to finish it. The graphics showed its age so they decided to postpone it to look at new technologies. I have never heard of any news of that game since.

I am feeling the same urge as I did last year, but with this game. Yes, the game may be almost complete and ready for beta stage, but who knows if the game is going to be released in 2010, or indefinitely postponed to who knows when. I’d doubt that SD would add any stuff to the game rendering the game to be released 3 years from now. Just as how Blizzard and Swinging ape decided to add multiplayer to an already finished game.

I guess you could well break my record given your current rate of posting, but it would be bad for our mental health as we’d need to read those 5000 posts if we even want to know what you’re talking about.

@Salteh: as I found out, the elections are not won on pure posting capacity alone.

Part 2 of the interview is up.

http://www.cgonline.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1054&Itemid=1

Nothing really new, but I get the impression from reading it that most of the game content is done. I guess that could just be wishful thinking though…

(iwound) #17

Thanks.

From the Interview with Kevin Cloud.

Right now you can find plenty of old sounds because we haven’t gotten round to replacing them yet, but we will.

Must be on the to do list.

(kamikazee) #18

The final talk on the end is nice. Because that is what teamplay is about.

(Joe999) #19

Once you start to coordinate with your team, deploying defense turrets, repairing someone else’s artillery gun, reviving a team-mate, picking up a mission to destroy an enemy radar your team-mate has discovered while reconnoitering their base, providing vital ammunition, flying to a remote location to pick-up a Sniper who needs to escape in a hurry, deploying supplies in the field, defending, constructing, destroying, hacking and escorting the primary objectives while your team supports you…these are the ‘HERO’ elements of the game, and when your name is relayed in a big bold font to your entire team and you rack up promotions and rewards for your contribution to their success, that’s a buzz you can only get from Enemy Territory teamplay.

great speech

(kamikazee) #20

Yes, that part.

I’d nominate it for ET speach of the month… :tapir:
