Any time the same, things that player cannot master in a game is called noob*. Awp noob, bunny hopper, noobtube as some examples, the best is what i heard from cod players: cross hair is noob, you must be a “hardcore” player. And yes, i think snipers in most mp games are noobs, hiding and waiting that some one is running in my cross hair, is to boring for me. But kill a camper with a fast turn and a shot with the “noobtube” in bf2 is really fun.

campers are always fun to frag, but their predictability somehow makes it less satsifying.

I’m glad that camping is usually allowed, in Raven Shield you can expect a kick or the admin simply kills you with his divine powers.

Wish they still make game like Raven Shield but the fps genre has change so much that developers are biting more than they can chew. I remember in the SOF II days, anyone that camp was kick by the host. If not, one cook grenade would do the trick.

In Shattered Horizon the grenade timers are dependant on how long you hold your mouse button. So when you fire right away the grenade has a very short fuse and after holding the fuse becomes longer.

Works perfectly, would need some extensive testing to get it working properly.

Maybe the velocity of the grenade could be tied to this as well. This is pretty intuitive as you want to have high velocity/long timer on high range and slow velocity/short timer on short distance.

This sounds like grenades in most other games… but the wrong way round.
I think sticking to tried and tested ways will be better.
I am glad you have moved from everything being raven to everything being shattered horizon tho :)… but this is brink.

Also, there is roll on mw2 grenades… seems they can be done :slight_smile:

Hey I’m just drawing from as many games as possible. I’m ignoring Crysis because that GL was overpowered as hell. Besides, Raven Shield didn’t have a grenade launcher, just a very annoying tendency to turn every game in a frag spam.

TF 2 grenade launcher was perfect for solving a issue with it being an annoying spam cannon. I think maybe some of it could be considered, but I also like the grenade launcher in a game like quake where the grenades actually bounce. I think have a grenade that can actually bounce off walls before blowing up ( which it will do in a certain amount of time or direct impact with a person ) would add to the skill level of the grenade launcher. Maybe make it so you can shoot the grenades 2 ways.

Make it so the grenade launcher can either stick and you blow them when you want ( tf2 ) or bounce them like a quake type grenade. Either way splash damage should be adjusted to how close the hitbox is too the core of the explosion if this is possible the grenade launcher will be fine no matter how you make unless…below

Satchel grenades were one of the stupidest ideas for a grenade launcher ever. Adding a grenade to the end of a boat sized rifle on your screen to shot it directly at someone and watch it explode? wow, any gayer? might as well just give us a rocket cannon.

With regards to grenades:
Fixed fuse (e.g. 4 seconds),
+attack = remove pin, fuse timer starts
-attack = throw grenade

With regards to cvars to enable/disable weapon:
Yes include them, that would make custom tweaking much easier
But don’t allow them to be changed on pure servers

i.e.
Pure servers should have all wepons and be set at default settings (mag count, accuracy, etc.)
Custom/non-pure can change these as they like

Please don’t call those servers “pure”, because that word is already used a lot to refer to a server which only allows players to use the pk3 files also present on the server. Perhaps call it “classic”?
