No to "Noobtube"

I agree with the OP, on the other hand this game seems to be a little bit more dimensional movement - wise, so maybe it won’t matter much. I mean, in Quake 3/Quake Live the nade launcher is pretty useless, compared to the rifle nade in W:ET, or the n00btube in CoD 4.

The Q3/QL grenade launcher is very useful when used right. Hitting someone with them causes a lot of damage, and you can easily spam chokepoints to hold your opponent off.

Exactly. Only bad players cant use it. This is how grenade launchers should be used. This is what they are meant for, otherwise it turns into what people call a “noobtube” . Like I stated earlier… If thats the case use a rocket launcher and remove grenade launchers… Quake players who dont suck, love using the grenade launcher… It takes skill too use it, but when used by someone who actually knows how to play a video game correctly. The damage is devastating.

Spam a nade from a lean around a corner, as they chase, bounce of the wall at a 90 degree angle to get them as they strafe around the corner, if still in pursuit, as you go through a door bounce of the door way arch to hit them right behind you, strafe jump 180 and then fire at the floor below the door to finish them off s you pass through. I <3 nade launcher.

Also area denial is nice

As for power, DPS should be the balancing factor. If it insta kills, the reload should be slow, or the fuse should make it take more timing and skill or the splash area should be small, or ammo really low.

If it does not, then you can increase ROF or the size of the splash area or add a metagame attribute like FUBAR their accuracy.

It should not be omitted, but balanced. I am sure SD are balancing it. That is (from what I have read) “pre-alpha” gameplay.

It should be the main purpose of a GL.

Just a quick note, the latest TF2 Soldier update clearly shows how both types, high damage-low radius and low damage-high radius can work.

So maybe it’s an idea to just follow that route in brink. Allow, say, a soldier class or whatever to specialise their grenade launcher into both sides of the spectrum.
