No race swapping vehicles in ET:QW please

(Killgarr) #1

Think about it, the Strogg equipment will be way to complex for the feebleminded humans to understand. And the Strogg would not lower themselves to use such primitive devices that the humans would use.

SplashDamage please do not allow the lowly humans to use Strogg vehicles and other equipment.

(kamikazee) #2

I wouldn’t mind, as long they don’t make vehicle traffic too dense…

(Killgarr) #3

I have no idea what you mean. Im sure there will be a set number of vehicles per map, and once they are destroyed the can respawn like BF2. I am suggesting that a human can not use a Strogg gun or vehicle, and a Strogg can not use a human gun or vehicle.

(kamikazee) #4

I mean: don’t make every map a vehicle based map, but use the vehicles wisely.

Allso, if a human finds a strog weapon and finds out how to fire it, wouldn’t he use it if he’s got no better?

(Killgarr) #5

Hopefully they will make maps wisely, with underground and or building areas that vehicles can not go into.

As far as I can tell, most Stroggs have their weapons ATTACHED to them, so I doubt a human could use it. If there were weapons not attached, they should be to complex for the humans to use.

Throw a cave man an unloaded automatic with a full clip, could he load it, turn the safety off and fire it? I dont think so.

I think each class and each race would be much more unique (spelling?) if they can only use their own weapons.

(kamikazee) #6

Not instanteniously, but there will be a time he finds out how it works and shoots himself, someway.
You have no idea what foolish fidling can do…

I’ll let it up to SD if they make weapons for one team only.

(B0rsuk) #7

It’s too late. If you read interviews carefully, you know that ranger/covert op will be able to rig vehicles with explosives. Conclusions are obvious.

(kamikazee) #8

And this means… ?
If your teammates see it’s rigged, they won’t use it for sure. But does it allso mean it can’t be used by the enemy? :stuck_out_tongue:

(Killgarr) #9

Just because you can plant a bomb on something does not mean you can drive it.

(kamikazee) #10

A closer look on the PCZone interviews, it probably won’t work to use enemy weapons, or at least gather ammo for them…
Vehicles probably won’t be drivable be enemies.

Oh whatever, the screens look good and I’m curious how they will balance foot/vehicle fights.

I don’t like the idea of spawning vehicles… i’d rather that once the vehicle is destroyed, it stays destroyed, and the wreck stays where it is until fixed by an engineer. Would give the incentive to push forward rather than camp the base waiting on a vehicle to spawn.

(Zenix) #12

Yeah, I think I agree with DarkAngel on that one.

(Black_Forky) #13

Thats actually a really good idea.

But what if the vehicle lands in an unreachable place?

(SCDS_reyalP) #14

Then you have to call a tow truck!

Seriously though, the vehicle spawns in games like BF cause a lot of gameplay negatives (people camping around the vehicle spawn, fighting over the spawned vehicle etc). Finding alternatives to this could be a big improvement in gameplay.

OTOH, I think being able steal enemy vehicles is a good thing. Even better if you can kill the driver as an infantryman and then jack their ride.

(FootSoulJah) #15

Maybe enemy vehicles have worse handling if you are a human trying to fly a strogg vehicle?

(DarkangelUK) #16

lol that could be funny… all the controls are reversed, or you can only go backwards

(Ragnar_40k) #17

With an captured enemy transporter you could infiltrate the enemy base with an entire squad (this would require teamplay though). And with Darkangels idea it wouldn’t be so conspicuous when a vehicle comes back to its own base (e.g. for further repair/refuelling). But there should be a drawback when driving enemy vehicles (maybe a certain amount of XP or certain class/rank is requiered to be able to use it or worse handling or lower speed etc.).

E.g. you spawn and see the APC coming back to base. You glad that you can drive instead of walk - but then a bunch of Stroggs jump out of it, wreaking havoc.

(Killgarr) #18

In Planetside you could hack other teams vehicles, but then that vehicle would become your teams colors, easily spotted by the other team.

Im just saying it would go against the storyline to have all the humans to be able to hop in every Strogg vehicle and drive away. They are constantly saying how much more advanced the Strogg are. Humans would need to reverse engineer everything, and that could take months…or years.

(fattakin) #19

hey man we could do it in indepedance day so quit ragging on us humans, all we need is a maverick cigar chewing flyboy and a geek with an apple mac and we can control any alien craft BOOYA!

(ChumChum) #20

Man having the controls reversed when you got into an enemy vehicle would be really funny but it would be easy enough to bypass with a script that alters your controls.

I would think that most of the issues like this have already been decided on and established in the game. While we would like to believe that SD watches these forums for ideas, the reality is probably not so. I am sure it will be fun to learn the new system ETQW offers as far as vehicles, weapons, and objectives are concerned.
