I have seen them post replies to several people. Im sure they watch the forms,[/quote]True, but maybe they look at those posts so they know what not to include so they could still surprise us!
Well, at least I’m still excited.
of course, there’s no time for changes anymore, game will be released on 11 january 2006:
i must admit, amazon has faith … they have the date since 7th october, i wonder where they got it from. lottery? a gipsy? a gipsy who got the date from the lottery?
I don’t like the idea of spawning vehicles… i’d rather that once the vehicle is destroyed, it stays destroyed, and the wreck stays where it is until fixed by an engineer.
i like this idea a lot two for some more reasone. i dont like the bf2 that every time one is destroyed it blows up and kills everyone… would be coller to have more ocasions where the vehicle just stoped working or lost too many weels or something so the crew have to get out
if the engine was hit maby make the engineer repair that, if it lost a wheel then get the spare or find one
I can personally guarantee you that none of us ever log on to the forums, still less read anything therein.
The engi has to carry replacement parts or a spare wheel from the base to the vehicle to be able to repair. On the other hand a team should be able to destroy a disabled vehicle manually when its damaged tio much (plant dyno?) and to force it to respawn at the base this way.
So essentially you are making a ‘realism’ argument about gameplay in a sci-fi shooter whose main theme is blood-sucking aliens ? :moo:
IMO, gameplay > story consistency or realism. Being able to steal the other teams vehicles could be good or bad, depending on how it is implemented.
I’d gurantee Strogg have ways of identifying that a strogg or not is in the tank/whatnot. Then…SLICE out come some random razorblades and no more human.
Ah, so you guys do use your psychic power to post here.
On topic: tearing a vehicle to shreads with explosives to make it unrepearable seems a good idea, if vehicles can be repaired with 1.5 rechargebar.
I don’t doubt the SD guys reading the boards and even briefly discussing a topic or idea over lunch. However, with a game that relies heavily on balance and gameplay, even ideas that seem somewhat insignificant may have a bigger impact on the game than previously expected. Then you run into trouble trying to fix those issues because the changes you make to fix those issues alter some other aspect of the game and then you have to make more changes…
I could very well be dead wrong, this is just an assumption. Perhaps one of the SD guys can chime in on how much they truly consider the ideas posted here. I would think they wouldnt because if they say they do, then they will get hounded even more as to what should be changed and when those changes aren’t made, it leads to upset gamers. And if they said they don’t consider much, then there will be some people upset that their voices aren’t being heard and you end up with upset gamers. So its best just to throw a bone once in a while in the form of a confirmation or screenshot or random joke and just let the game do the talking once it is released.
Yes and with all changes im sure they are well and truely tested by some lucky gamers in europe somewhere before any of it is actually put in the game.
I think SD will be reading it. I think it’s very important to read what we say as developpers as we can have new ideas they didn’t have yet. If they put in things we post over here which we like, we will like the game more and therefore more ppl will buy the game. This means more €€€ for SD. Then we get better support, maybe more maps because there is a great public etc. etc. So good for all of us!
I guess for major gameplay changes in ET:QW its already to late, but W:ET2 is definitely coming (at least I hope so).
Couldnt u just chop off the dead strogg’s arm and then use their gun? Then when u run out of alien ammo u could just beat enemies to death with the arm. U see, humans have the ability to solve problems

BTW: If strigg use strogent as ammo and health, do they allso use it as fuel for their vehicles? Going on foot could be healthy then.
