No lobbies, what were you thinking?

(Xerxes52) #41

They don’t have pre-game lobbies?

They did on the 360 version of ET:QW, why not now? It’s a basic feature on console games.
BC2 is absolutely horrid. Never seen anyone play it competitively. I also don’t know how it’s private match system or matchmaking works. If I remember correctly in the demo it was retarded and you could only talk to like 3 other people in your squad and had to join a session in progress.

I could be wrong though, BC1 and BC2 were awful so I haven’t paid any attention to them in a long time.
correct on console versions of bc2 u could only talk to ur 3 other squadmates which made it awful for teamwork

(Nayr) #43

We’re talking about the console version btw everyone. Seems like some of you don’t get that.

(DazTroyer) #44

It was a pain if you had more, thank heavens for party chat when there was 8 of you.

(Norb) #45

Ahh I only really play with 2 mates occasionaly 3 so a lobby for 4 of us is normally available on most games so wasnt a problem for us

It would’ve been nice if this thread hadn’t been ruined by ignorance from those who really have no need to be posting in this thread anyway. If you’re a PC gamer, congrats on feeling superior, however you are not needed in this thread unless you would also like a lobby system.

Lobby system’s are basically needed for any good shooter game on consoles. Sure you can just invite people to the game you’re playing, but that’s not what works the best. A good lobby system needs a way to pick what you want to play, lets you pick what team you’re on, and lets you ‘ready up’. These have been around for YEARS, and it’s shocking that a game that’s been in the making as long as Brink doesn’t have a detailed party/lobby system set up.

Casual and competitive gamers both like to play private matches, but to have the host start a room, make his own settings, and then invite everyone is not a good way to do it. If this game doesn’t have a good lobby system, it will not have anywhere near as good sales as it could on 360. This one problem has made it so that a lot of people are already questioning the game, since something so NEEDED as a lobby system has been completely left out.

And for the people saying “you’re complaining when you have no idea what you’re talking about”. We have gotten our information from Brink’s twitter and the Bethesday blog, and it has made a lot of people worry about the game’s success inside the competitive 360 community.

(BrigandSk(A)) #47

ain’t Brink lobby system the time between the cut scene and the beginning of the round while you are already on the map with access to the base command post so you can set up ???

(TiN TiN) #48

As long as fireteams are in I’m fine. Although I can see where this would be troublesome for plenty of players. A lobby is a chance to take a quick break, go over strategies, take a piss, get together people for competitive stuff so I do question why they didn’t put it in. Just because it’s faster doesn’t necessarily make it better.

(Jess Alon) #49
Not only are lobbies important for the casual community to search matchmaking with their friends but lobbies are essential for the competitive community so we can decide teams and get everyone from both teams in the lobby before the game starts.

This should be one of the most OBVIOUS features a game developer would include in their game, especially one that boasts about catering to the competitive community.

Better start working on that patch because this game will bomb without these features.

Even if you fix the terrible lag that seems to be plauging the game right now we have to deal with this awkward way of playing with or friends in public matches and this, what looks to be a broken private match system.

Splash Damage = Derp :penguin:
Competitive on console… yeah right. And I’m a console player. I’m gonna bet that you have a playstation am I right?

(DeadEye) #50

EXACTLY.

I have actually never played a game that didn’t have some sort of Lobby System, so this confuses me to why they would even do it. I understand they want ‘you to get in a game as quick as possible’, but what about the people that prefer quality over quantity? Personally if I’m not going to be able to play competitive privates in the game that are EASY to set up, it’s going to kill it for me. I’ll still probably play the game for what it’s worth, but it won’t be as competitive within the ‘MLG/GB’ scene.

(Diablo85) #51

If there is a ready up mode and a pause the match feature a lobby wouldn’t really be needed. But no idea if that is in.

(BrigandSk(A)) #52

There is a lobby then… it’s just way better than any standard lobby…

Instead it is a interactive in-game lobby, sort of like natural selection’s 2 lobby system!

(Nayr) #53

Why would what console I own matter? I own an Xbox btw.

There have been plenty of competitive console games, not sure what you’re getting at with that post.

Hey deadeye, do you remember me from Bionic we used to F S up? You want to get a team going in Brink?

Consoles just aren’t geared towards the competitive gamer. Aim assist on everything is usually ridiculous. I figured you had PSN because on XBL you can get your friends UP TO 8 what a coincidence! in voice chat and collaborate. I honestly don’t like lobbies much. I don’t want to talk to some dummies I don’t know who I’m about to rape anyway.

Quit being a fanboy and actually address anything I’m saying rather then nitpicking random quotes from my entire post.
Hah! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defense Nice try, bub.

Your point?? Your point is that you don’t know how the system in Brink works, and you are going to complain about it anyway. When I bring up a perfectly viable alternative method to what you have already decided is the only acceptable option, you state that you don’t know about it, and you feel that is suitable for dismissal.

Let’s see what common internet dweller share these traits…

(Bridger) #57
Congrats on being an idiot!

How about people who actually are playing seriously and need to be able to start each team at the exact same moment so no unfair advantage is given to either side?

This is like Call of Duty on consoles for last couple years all over again(obviously not referring to BOPS which fixed the LAN/private match play).
You’re complaining to the lawnmower manufacturers for not including a competition grade transmission in their tractors. Anyone would tell you the answer here is to ditch lawnmower racing and get a real racing machine.

(NuMbzZz) #58

party system or this game will fail hard on consoles

(ClarK) #59

You are aloud your own opinion, if you don’t want a lobby system fine, but leave our threads alone please.

Thanks

(Nayr) #60

You missed the point of a lobby entirely. Their main purpose is to set up your team prior to the game. Without them it’s near impossible on the console.

Pretty important for both casual and competitive players.
