I’ve taken over as main contact here as Suse is on holiday. so I’m trying to catch up on this. Can we have the match data confirmed? As well the campaign you have made, do we need much time to fetch it beforehand?

Match date is 7 March I think, but chris must confirm that.

About the maps I’m pretty sure all of you have most of them already - it’s no new map files, except for the campaign file, and it’s small. The zip is more for TV viewers that haven’t played custom before, or players that have messed up their autodownload, like Anthony :wink:

But I recommend that everyone connect a day or so before just to be sure the files are in sync.

I’ll personaly tk ppl who try to do that, no need for it anyway the map will be quicker enuff ;), if your tag isnt pink I consider this event a win anyway! random last minutes threats tend to annoy me…

We will play the map as it was designed, only thing that shouldn’t be allowed is the shield exploit.

LUNCH BREAK EDIT:

Radar is and always was designed so that the attacking side could use the Side Entrance before completing the first objective, it is not an over sight and therefore shouldn’t be treated as an exploit, there is two spawns the defense can chose to spawn back at to counter a side attack just like the original Radar map in W:ET, if you spawn at the very back from the start of the map as defense you can reach the side well before the attack does and lay down mines and such.

Chris, can we have this cleared up? I thought it was a flaw in the map, not an accepted possibility. So I’m now liable to accept it, as long we declare in advance that this is something we will allow or now. I would prefer not to be allowed.

The original map (from w:et) had this as a feature (not a bug/glitch) of the map, so is the remake, and there is no reason to not allow this on the match.

Also, there is a known glitch where you can “throw” energy cells through the strogg shields, and this is forbidden, but blowing the side door to grab the cell and cross the whole map backward to transmit it is a totally valid tactic. Also, it will reduce the spam around the main objective.

ya I just went back and re-played it in W:ET. AFAIK, you can’t transmit the cells until the gen is blown right? this makes it slightly diff from W:ET where you could win the whole map with the side entrance blown.

Are you refering to the god awful shoutcast that was done before where the casters assumed it was an exploit?

As I said it is how the map is designed, a split attack and defense, without it, it would be long struggle to get the generator blown, the side entrance encourages both sides to fight on two fronts.

This is correct yes, however you can grab an energy cell, come back through the side entrance go all the way around back to the main entrance and into the intake area, however this is a long a risky strategy just like in W:ET but more so cause of the transmiting.
