New Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory in work?

(Saadi) #1

As ePrison and Wolfmap report a new Wolfenstein: ET2 is in work:

http://www.eprison.de/news/3/3940
http://www.wolfmap.de/comments.php?news_id=2213

Of course this is still unconfirmed information and could also, over time prove to be untrue.

What about splashdamage? Is there any cooperation planned?

Would be a great news for the ET community we have been waitin so long!

DO WANT

It will be dumbed down compared to WET, though, teeheehee.

(eiM) #3

doubt it very much

(darthmob) #4

Meh. It would be like Q4. Lots of tears, complaints and a short life. Except that Q4 wasn’t dumbed down compared to Q3.
But maybe that’s just me being negative.

(Etnies) #5

It will have no strafe and ironsights like ever other game nowadays.

(Slade05) #6

Exactly my thought Etnies.

I BLAME COD!!1!!!

(Wezelkrozum) #7

I doubt it. But it should be cool if they improve the engine graphics and animations. The other values has to be the same.
Hold in mind the previous new wolfenstein of an other developer wasn’t a big succes.

(Pegazus) #8

Looks like a new rumor. With the big success ID Software had with Wolfenstein I doubt they are willing to make any risks currently, especially on a free game. Besides why should they, they wont achieve anything with it.
Also they are too busy with Rage and Doom 4, unless they are willing to give a change for another developer which we saw with Wolfenstein is highly unlikely at the moment. The loss was just too huge.

I’d love to see a new Wolfenstein, but i consider this is fake news unless ID confirms it.

(Slade05) #9

Nobody said “free” yet.

(Pegazus) #10

I am sorry, I thought it would make sense that it would be free. I don’t know about you but with the great job ID did with publishing Wolfenstein 2009, i will be thinking twice before i buy anything by them.
Making the “new” Wolfenstein free would be a good way to fix what they achieved with the new Wolfenstein.

(Slade05) #11

Goddamn, id DID NOT PUBLISH OR DEVELOP Wolfenstein, RAVEN AND ACTIVISION DID.

(Pegazus) #12

No need to start swearing and screaming. I am sorry if i am not most up to date and made you angry, but when i last checked they were one of the publishers and developers. I am aware that Raven and EndRant were responsible of the game. (EndRant, was for MP i guess)

I apologize.

(Slade05) #13

Yep, I overreacted there, sorry.
But whole Wolf abandon makes sence if you remember that at the time of release id was bought by Zenimax, so Activision was losing Wolf IP. And a year before that, Activision got dumped with Rage in favor of EA.
Not much zeal on Raven side of things either, first they kinda undelivered on Quake4 MP, then Wolf and they generally seem to be in transition to Unreal technology. What a time we are living in.

(Saadi) #14

Why dont they cooperate with Splash Damage instead of making ego trips a la WolfMP

All the stuff SD worked on with was very popular and beloved, both in ET and RtCW

But mabye time has chaged :frowning:

(Paul) #15

Yes times change, now it’s 100% about money not about game, first it was 50/50!

(murka) #16

Even if it is true i wont play it. Activision/id have proven themselves not to care about fans and i see no reason to play their games.

(ailmanki) #17

I would love to see a ET Live

(Cambodunum) #18

im not interested anymore …

if there will be a “free” Enemy Territory - Wolfenstein 2
it will be a rework of wolfenstein (just my 2 cents)

(Slade05) #19

Yes, there was an unlucky/unwanted Wolf child, caught up in separation.
But id desperately tried to save Q4 MP, even going as far to pry it from Raven hands around 1.2. Sadly, audience already moved on somewhere else, but you cant deny them a honest effort. I dont know how much input was there on id side of things with ETQW 1.6, but I`m sure there was at least some.

Shit, they even deem providing Linux client a necessity, while whole Linux population on id games is around 5% according to TTimo.

Hows that for "doesnt care"?

(SLASH) #20

Yes, it is all about the money now… If its not free, i aint buying it.
