New Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory in work?

Heeeey, it always was about money.
With any developer, on any platform.

You must be seriously mad to even consider actual dev studio to shell out games for free now. Even W:ET was planned a normal paid expansion.

I think there are still some developers who make games because they like it. Money is to motivate them and a prize for it.
But about getting games free, you are correct there Slade05

For me personally, its no problem if it will cost sth. If this game will be a real WET2, and not just a shitty game which was named WET2, I would pay my 40€ for it.
But the more important thing for me is, will there be Securom again? Will there be an Online Activation? If I would have known that Wolf2 would use Securom, I would not have pre-ordered it. But I already did, so now its here, I dont really like it and I wish I wouldnt have bought it.

So I really hope that this game will be a real Wolfenstein again, not just a shitty game like Wolf2.

This I hope is true, Ive been waiting years for a real ET2 to come out even if it means having to buy the game. I started playing Wolf back in 2003 had a clan called Generals of Death [GoD] clan before me and the co-founder started U|k* clan (ulitmate killaz ) which in time became UK Puregaming, but still kept the Ultimate Killaz name going. That server was always full was still going well until recently when my m8 renamed it to something else.

After the let down of Quake wars ( not ET in the slightest ) I went on to play MMOrpg’s but If they do release a proper ET2 then i look forward to returning and U|k* will be back with a vengeance too !
Yes, there was an unlucky/unwanted Wolf child, caught up in separation.
But id desperately tried to save Q4 MP, even going as far to pry it from Raven hands around 1.2. Sadly, audience already moved on somewhere else, but you cant deny them a honest effort. I dont know how much input was there on id side of things with ETQW 1.6, but I`m sure there was at least some.

Shit, they even deem providing Linux client a necessity, while whole Linux population on id games is around 5% according to TTimo.

Hows that for "doesnt care"?
As i just posted in my last message … I too am one of those that moved on having played since 2003 and running one of the popular game server and clans for almost 6 years. why ? becuase I and others waited for years for real ET2 but they released ETQW instead which didnt live up to what ET was. Money wasnt the issue either… think how much it cost to keep GoD and U|k* servers going for over 5 years with no downtime :).

This money could have gone to the dev/publishers via ranked servers just like EA etc does with there games and personally if the powers that be actually did make a new modernised clone of ET I reakon it would be a money maker as all those ppl who loved it over the past few years even the kids with no money will be working etc and would probably love to shell out £35 - £40 for the game and also the £30 pm in server fees too. It was the gameplay and community rather than the graphics that inspired us and the fact it was a WW2 game… fck the modern warfare shite.

ET orginal is too overwhelmed with botters which is the main reason I left the game.

PS. Is there a statement in english I can read about the possible new Wolf Et 2 ?

People want a new ET but they basically want the same game again. It’s not going to happen and it’s not going to work!

(cragz_uk*) #27

Same as in Gamplay … objectives etc etc obviously the engine etc would be different and the feel of the game may vary but it isnt impossible to come up with a revamped version surely ? Also things such as Support and updates go along long way in my eyes in keeping a game alive. NEVER SAY NEVER.

To say its not going to work is just stupid. I bet when they first released it they thought the same thing … little did they know about how huge the game would become over the following 6 years from 2002 onwards. The mistake that was made was not creating/launching a new version in the past 2-3 years.
And making an half hearted revamp like was done with Wolfenstein 2009 isnt exactly going to work.
They need to put some soul into it. Re take the attention of the thousands of ex-players through marketing and such and maybe it would HAPPEN.

If I had the money or owned the means to make a game I would most certainly look at this game and what it achieved during 2003 - 2008 and try to recapture and recreate this. Unfortnatly I dont. SHAME !

And if it is free, you won’t be buying it either
