New Medic Style Take The Fun Away?

(DarkangelUK) #201

Well not really, the need is still there… they need their team mate alive, more so if he’s close to the objective and the correct class for that objective, it’s more the willingness that’s diminished. I’d say it just seems the attachment (or bond if you will) to the player is gone. You’re detached from your subject and reviving is no longer the personal action it was when you had to run right up to them through hails of bullets and give them the veritable kiss of life.

(tokamak) #202

Yes, because ‘back then’ (right now) you were the only one who could ensure that player’s revival. It’s been pushed back to simply giving them a chance to rise up without any further consequences to yourself.

(DarkangelUK) #203

And i’d say that’s it working as intended, and not an unforeseen circumstance of the new system. At the end of the day, your argument seems to boil down to “that’s how you like it” rather than for gameplays sake. Again I’m not saying it’s going to be awesome and will work fantastically, that remains to be seen, I may even detest it when I get a proper play of it… but I can at least understand the logical reasoning behind it rather than siding with personal bias.

(tokamak) #204

I’m not saying it’s unintended, I just don’t like the intention to shift the role of the medic like this. As for the logical reasoning behind it, all I’ve heard is that it was to keep the short/long distance abilities of each class the same. I’d much rather see it the other way around the health packs being thrown over a distance and the revives close-up. That way the medic becomes the backbone of the team while the team is alive and kicking, and the self-sacrificing savior when the team is down.

(DarkangelUK) #205

I guess at this point that’s all you’re going to get… whether you believe/agree with it or not.

(tokamak) #206

Sure, I have no illusions about that, it’s just that the reasoning isn’t sound at all and the fact that no one here has yet given any other good reason for doing it only confirms that for me.

(Senethro) #207

Its a thing. Its a subjective thing. Its not an important thing. You sound like a weaponslot grenadier making a big deal of it.

(tokamak) #208

Whether it’s important is equally subjective, the medic is my favorite class and I consider this a major shift which is why I make a big deal about it. And even subjective views can having well or ill-reasoning behind it.

(H0RSE) #209

Medic is my favorite class also. No fuss here…

(digibob) #210

Still is for me too

(tokamak) #211

Good, then you both understand why I’m being so serious here.

(DarkangelUK) #212

I’m guessing by the fact he said he isn’t fussed… then no.

(tokamak) #213

I do my best to ignore such passive aggressive shenanigans, so I already filtered out that part.

(DarkangelUK) #214

Riiigggghhhtttt. I’m a long time medic since RtCW was released as well, I’m not fussed either

(Senethro) #215

I’m also a medic because in the Enemy territory series its nearly inevitable that good players will move to the medic. The only thing stopping medics from being 90% of all teams was that they couldn’t complete objectives.

Which is why I’m happy to see a bit of a change in them. They’re done and passe.

They can do core objectives now too

(Crytiqal) #217

So everyone is a medic then I suppose.

(Nikto) #218

i’m expecting a flood of operatives myself.

(Zanchile) #219

i hope they make ops with a steep learning cure so that if your a good op you can do some damage but a bad one will be useless, that would stop the influx of wannabe 1337 ninjas.

(LyndonL) #220

I wouldn’t think there would be an influx of any one class tbh due to weapons being universally available.
