Yes, I imagine they have, but it would be nice for us to know. When was this event with all the gamer journalists? Has the game changed since then?
New info
Probably not. The hands-on stuff all of the features or whatever are based on was done at some conference hosted by Bethesda, from what I understand. You might see more articles from the same thing, but I don’t expect any new info until PAX east.
In addition to the sixteen core levels, there are four missions called “What If,” two for each side.
For clarity and accuracy, does this mean there are 20 different maps total, or are they counting each map twice, since you can play it from both factions?
that article confused me to, i want a normal, clean answer - How many maps in game, can be used for clanwars ? how map, big as reactor, can be only a bonus map.
Ok nerds, time for some new info…
Cortex Bomb:
He took me down and stood over my lifeless corpse mocking my demise. Big mistake. While I was waiting to spawn (or for a Medic) I ripped him a new one thanks to the beauty of a perk known as the Cortex Bomb. As the tiny shaped charge in what was left of my brainpan detonated I watched with grim satisfaction as both our bodies exploded. Payback’s a bitch, bitch!
Spiked Jacks:
I also had some nasty little spiked jacks that I distributed that both obscure vision with a cloud of smoke and cause damage if anyone runs through them. If they decide to walk slowly I’d pick them off one by one and move onto the next.

edit: very cod like, the cortex bomb sounds like martyrdom, and the spiked jacks sounds like nova gas
Hmm, sounds like Cortex Bomb is OHK. But I’m actually okay with that. Setting it off right as someone starts teabagging you… Priceless!

Cortex Bomb simply sounds like the self destruct ability we knew Operatives had months ago.
I’m just pointing out that it doesn’t sound like a completely new ability we previously knew nothing about.
I didnt mention it was a new ability, the additional info about the ability however, is new.
Doesn’t warrant nitpicking mate
I didnt mention it was a new ability,
I never said you did or didn’t.

There’s no nitpicking, just clarification.
I like it, and I can already think of several scenarios in which it would be very useful. And the Spiked Jacks sound pretty cool too. Kinda like caltrops/smoke bomb. Hooray, more non-sneaky Operative skills!
I know being killed by Martyrdom was bloody annoying in CoD, you just felt cheated being killed by an enemy you just took out in a firefight. I’m wondering if the same frustration will be seen in Brink, and also the same shouts of “noob” towards those that used it…
It didn’t feel that way at all. That person was weaker because he gave up a combat-active perk. I do think it needs to go with a subtle sound cue though.
Or subtle facial animations… “Why is that guy blinking so rapidly like that? Oh, shi–” BBBOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!
I think for most players, even with a warning system - they would consider it cheap.
Good thing about it though, the reviewer of that article stated in the comments section that it was a high level perk. And assuming classes are easily distinguishable, you can always try to avoid incapped operatives.
The spiked jacks seems like a cool idea though.
Seems like a TF:C idea, actually. And I like the Cortex Bombs in Dystopia more than the post-death explosion. More fun to rush at people and more fun to have a nearly dead suicide bomber rushing at you and ticking down… but that’s just my opinion.
It’s older than the perk. How many of you have frequently grabbed a nade, cooked it and just ran because that was the last thing you could do?
I personally would give it a long (but slightly variable) cooking time and an obvious warning. This way the perk becomes an excellent area denial rather than getting cheap kills. It would be similar to sticking HE charges on key points, not to kill players, but to keep them away or at least make them hesitate long enough to put a few rounds in their head.
