this was what we hoped for with QW, when some leaked footage came out. Ppl thought it sounded rather poor and it must be just placeholder sound effects and it’ll be good in the final. well, It wasn’t.
I don’t know whats going on in SD sound department…

That gun is the Drognov. I think the Rockstedi, which is sort of inspired by the SCAR, is semi-auto and is more powerful than the other assault rifles.

I think the guns sounds are fine, I think the voices sound fine too. And the little “fx” noises, such as the characters’ gear making a bit of noise, also sound good. The sound in this video is sort of spotty at times. The videographer guy apologizes about it.

The cutscene for the Security team headed into the fish farm is good. The one guy is very hesitant, another guy is ready to killgasm, one guy is sort of taciturn, and guy with the mask is creepy… Ditto the Resistance cut scene. Very good. I actually care about these characters!

Sorry to say it but that footage just doesn’t excite me at all. Everything seems way to slow and the constant usage of ironsights is really annoying. I wasn’t expecting Brink to be W:ET but the ironsights seem worse than ETQW, atleast in ETQW you could fight at close to mid range without ironsights. So basicly you have lost the shooting style of W:ET, the Vehicles of ETQW and now you have a shooting system similar/identical to COD.

Looks like he has a gun to me, isn’t that also a different map? I thought the escort map was the Aquarium map. (it’s at 1min btw)

Seems to be just how the players are playing, they just automatically pop up the ironsight regardless if it’s needed or not. I don’t think we’ve seen any footage either way that tells us how the hip firing accuracy is. When sponge played it at QCon, he said never felt outgunned when using hip fire in close to mid range firefights, and I can’t say I had any issues with it either.

just finished a quick view at the video in “not so good” quality.

finally a real interview without the always repeating lines and very nice long gameplay footage.

dont have anything to complain about except maybe the glowing edges on player (good thing on the objectives) and the speed. it still looks relatively slow to me, but ill see how this will turn out. im getting older you know, and my reflexes arent the best anymore. :slight_smile:

the s.m.a.r.t. might really be the new direction for new shooters. it looks very smooth and im already asking myself why this hasnt been added long before to the genre.

keep some more footage in hd coming and i probably wont wait for a demo to decide if i buy this game or not.

btw. i guess we will see lots of previews this week about brink. keep an eye on rockpapershotgun.com. i personally like the way they write previews the most. its a site pretty much dedicated to pc gamers.

This! What a great site for PC gamers.

I have seen the low quality video, every time I see Paul in an interview it fill me with confidence. That said the gaemplay footage didnt really hit the spot like I thought it would. I am guessing once I play it, it will feel alot different.

It looked a little slow, for example I didnt see anyone strafing to avoid fire it was just a case of who killed who first. Also was the game’s footage against bots? There was one bit where a guy with a mini gun just raged through like four guys, who despite the ability to SMARTly navigate the terrain decided to run straight at him.

I really liked the look of dishing out ammo and syringes etc. I am a big fan of the damage the players were taking as well. The variety of weapons looked great.

I have noticed a few people commenting on the “glow” to be honest other than the one shot where you could see the guy through the water tower(?) I didnt notice it.

I need to watch the video again I have only seen it once on a rushed viewing, I need to watch the hi-res video too, thanks for posting that Seyu

Not sure I understand the point your trying to make about the use of iron sights?? Its an optional thing, you can choose to hip shoot or ironsight at any range…If you dont like iron sights redo the controls so its near impossible for you to press the ironsight button.

I hope and also think that the lack of fast movement, hip-shooting and strafing/strafejumping is a result of using a controller to play here. Don’t think that works with one. Worst thing that can happen is that we have to wait for a BrinkPRO mod to cut out all the bull**** and add some skill.

This would also give me time to save for a new PC :smiley:

yeah…better video this. but the audio thing. @4:55 he throws a molotov that explodes and it’s like it does no sound at all ? :frowning:
also, are the players in this bots or just devs trying to play it slow so others could keep up ? :smiley:

Always, like quake wars. Until char detail is to the level where you can properly assess enemy health without one, I definitely approve of retaining health bars.

@wallhax I assume/hope this is from radar comms hax and not something seen normally.
