New footage

(Dragin) #101
No offense intended but the editing is kind of awful. :frowning:

I do like the footage though! Can someone who is better at keeping up with the weapons in this game tell me what weapon that is at around 1:39? It looks like an assault rifle but seems to be rather slow and powerful.
That gun is either an assault rifle or a short rifle but I think it is the assault rifle that is single shot. There was always talk of and m-14 / FAL type weapon for assault rifles. The sound is also familiar. Watch the choir of guns trailer again, the same gun shows up except it shows a third person perspective. Hope this helps.

Yea but not a single inch of depth.

(amazinglarry) #103

Hahah, if you say so. I know quite a few players that would disagree with you, but it’s not worth defending if nobody listens to begin with. I’m agreeing to disagree, and that’s the last I’ll speak of it.

(shadowkungfu) #104

Awesome footage. Gets me pumped!

(V1cK_dB) #105

You remind me of kids in wolf:et that would just walk in a straight line lol. Talk about standing out as a newb in that game. It clearly added depth and skill separation in wolf and it would have done the same in brink but I can see that you think walking slowly while aiming down sights is more skillful than strafeshooting so you should be happy with this game and every other current gen game that have the exact same mechanics. Soooo exciting.

Btw…this new footage and lack of strafe jumping/strafeshooting/hip firing has me worried. I hope I can chalk it up to bad kids playing. We will see.

(tokamak) #106

I’m not contesting that it requires skilful movement. I’m contesting that it adds anything to the tactics.

(JFarrell) #107

Man this is going to be revolutionary.

(ShoryukenII) #108

I think there really is something wrong with the audio. I was having trouble hearing the cutscene voices over the music and the gameplay just sounded silly. I doubt that is how it’ll sound next month but I’m prepared to leave the TV on mute for this.

(Whydmer) #109

I would also be surprised if this is the gameplay audio we will see in 3 weeks.

(Linsolv) #110

I’m totally prepared to turn Music down to zero, voices up to 100, and SFX down low, and then setting it to 12 on my TV. Like I do with every game. iTunes ftw

EDIT: Sorry, I lied. iTunes isn’t ftw—mp3 players are. iTunes is just the one I happen to use. I don’t even like it that much. :\

(elevator13) #111

I wish the audio didn’t drop out everytime you take damage. Understandable for nades, but for just getting shot it’s over the top and really detracts from the chaos.

(Cankor) #112

You see enemy health bars in ETQW while you are in a firefight (or maybe it’s just right after, can’t remember). But if you die you can see how much damage you did to the other guy. I like it.

Do you see them all the time in Brink or just when/right after shooting at a guy?

(Cankor) #113
cough lol cough
Pretty sure this is the objective guy, when you are escorting him he’s yellow, when you are trying to kill him he’s red. This is why you can see him through walls and stuff He shows up in other parts of the footage as well.

(Nail) #114

that’s what I thought as well, othe vids have shown enemy in full cover and you can’t see them

(trigg3r) #115

i wouldnt trust the audio in this video that much, specially after seeing that bit with paul wedgwood talking

(Cankor) #116

The outlines are a little confusing (I’m sure it will make sense within a few minutes of actually playing), it’s more than just the escort guy.

When they are defending the bomb and guys rush in to disarm, one of them is yellow. Could he be the engineer (highlight the engineer so you know who too shoot???, that seems a bit much), or maybe he’s on the defenders team and the yellow means something else. I know they said they want you to know which of the enemy guys to focus on, and they were going to have icons over their heads, but if they have changed that to an actual highlight to make him stand out like that I think I’ll cry.

edit: watched it again, pretty sure that’s the guy you’re supposed to be escorting moving around back there.
There’s blue highlighting for team members that I think need a buff (the one guys is blue before the jump down and the prompt is for the engie to buff his gun).

The highlighting of the objectives is obvious, they are all highlighted, be it the bomb to disarm, the bot to escort, the door to blow up, or the guy to escort.

edit: note, you can tell when you’ve spotted a guy, there’s an orange flower thing which pulses (pretty sure that’s what that means).

I don’t think blue means they are in need of a buff, it just highlights which teammate you are currently aimed at and will give a buff to if you decide to.

(Linsolv) #118

There are a number of points, though, in the video where the security soldier is following that same heavy around when the heavy has full ammo, and no matter where he aims the blue rim light does not appear.

(DouglasDanger) #119

The audio is messed up, but there does seem to be some kind of shock/blur when you take damage.

(Cankor) #120

yeah, you don’t have to be pointed right at the guy, if he’s in your view you can buff him, so that tells you who will get buffed.
