New footage

Those who bash killing basically are *****.

First Person Shooters… hmmm I wonder if that genre has anything to do with killing folk??

No matter what your argument is you need to kill people to win.

The problem arises when everyone is focusing on killing people and runs off to do their own thing, because when they do that, either no one is left to complete the objective, or the only person trying to complete the objective is defenseless.
Fragging means this for me.

Stranger: “65/3, damn i’m good”
Me: “Dude your team didn’t even move from 1st. Spawn.”
Stranger: “Carescore 0, i have better stats than you and it makes me better player than you”
Me: “facepalm”
Etc.

Reason why i play only matches.
Well, i will allow little fragging if ppl are at defence. :)
sounds like someone who cant aim making out that its not cool to kill people so they dont cry themselves to sleep at night.

If someone gets 63/3 and their team cant do the objective, it means his team is either all afk or non existant. This is an fps. Dont forget it.

(Apoc) #224

When trying to do an objective, the optimal way for say a plant objective, would be to aproach the enemy team guarding the objective. Kill the team around the objective. Push out while someone plants stopping people nearby from getting to the objective. Push out further, delaying their spawn wave, while one or 2 guard the obj itself under cover.

Notice the emphasis on killing.

(BioSnark) #225

I don’t think some of the stuff (persistent weapon icons, d-pad) are that likely to show up on a PC version.

You don’t seem to understand the difference between fragging just for your own pleasure and killing people toward an objective/to defend an objective. We know killing will be part of the game, we don’t want it to be its purpose, that’s all.

(DouglasDanger) #227

Yeah, the whole killing instead of playing for objectives is one of the reasons I gave up Black Ops. Sporadic netcode and the asshole community are the other reasons.

None of this has anything to do with the newest footage though!

(Humate) #228

No… he knows the difference, but the person he’s explaining it to clearly does not.

Back to the footage, watched it quite a few times in HD - and found that the music was too loud for the cutscenes, particularly the one where they get the escort on the boat. The other minor gripe with the cutscene, was the resistance one where the dude in the yellow helmet would get interrupted by the dude in the furry jacket - didnt seem natural, but I’ll admit I dont know much about voice acting : /

That is all.

(Om3ga) #229

For me object is always most important thing. You can’t win object games by camping and fragging.
My style is always rush to object, no matter what, or sneak through enemy lines by using cov-ops and shoot ppl behind, this makes them usualy attack on me and other guys can make their way to object easier. This is reason why i love et: qw, and wolf: et so much! Brink won’t make diffrence.

What if your the Resistance trying to stop the soldiers blowing a door open to get a massive robot through?

(Mad Hatter) #231

Defenders might be able to win a match through killing alone, but I bet it would help A LOT if people would capture command posts, close off enemy shortcuts, defuse bombs, build MG nests, damage the robot/person being escorted, etc.

(Om3ga) #232

Well, i was talking about attacking.

This is it what defender shoud do. And defending seems to be now much harder, reson: SMART.
Enemy can be anywhere, so defender must play as team if they want def object.

Usualy these “non-object-, slackersguys” are 10-12 years old, and they don’t know what object means. Luckly BRINK is +16 hehe

(dandragon) #233

wow reading this thread, you can really tell its close to release date. All this gameplay theory and footage critque reminds me of a horny virgin. Every day you go without is like an eternity and you can’t think of much else, but when it finally happens your relaxed, relieved, and if its really good your addicted. At least with Brink we know when were getting some.

Oh yeah the footage was good I agree the cinematics sound seemed off balance but could have just been a setup issue with the video. I also think the speed of gameplay isn’t much to worry about. Could easily have been slowed for ease of view. Overall we still want it badly.

(dandragon) #234

And as far as the fragger thing I agree with both of you. Kill to live live to kill. as long as the team kill jerks stay away. Know a guy who had to quit mag because of dumb kids team killing teammates and not trying to actually play the game But I think this game is a bit too structured for those types, hopefully.

(Om3ga) #235

Yea, i hope Brink have vote to kick.

But anyways, i agree whit dandragon: Brink is virgin for us

(obliviondoll) #236

Killing people in the defense of an objective earns more XP than going out and killing a random who’s just camping in a corner in the hope of getting a few easy kills to boost their KDR.

People who want to kill people will congregate near people they can kill.

That means they, like everyone else, will be drawn to the objectives.

They’re going to be (even if all they care about it kills) helping to assault/defend the objective. Problem?

(tokamak) #237

Many people already had their way with her before you got to touch her.

Experience speaks for itself here. at least she should know what we like and how it’s done.

(tokamak) #239

It’s just that contagious rash…

(dandragon) #240

rash does that count as dlc!?
