New footage

… was sort of a joke actually, guess it needed a winky
PC HUD’s don’t need to be as big.
This is specially clear with for example last Fallout games, on PC the HUD is worthless ad people mod their own version of it.

We are closer to our screens and therefore the HUD elements can be a lot smaller and we see more of the action.
Yes, but when have PC games had better HUD than on consoles. I mean lately, not years ago when PC gaming was the main ****
games usually have the same HUD for all versions. Have to wait until someone makes a mod or smth. devs can’t seem to be bothered…

Probably the best we can hope is that we can disable parts of the HUD and change the huge circle crosshair…

Well I would honestly take that as a given for a Splash Damage game. Anything else would be a real disappointment.

(Ragoo) #204

Yeah but I hope SD realizes that is not enough.

When there is like 30 sec respawn time it’s rather helpful to know if the respawn timer is at 28 or at 4 when I do some risky/suicidal stuff.
And it’s pretty much a must for competitive play so I hope the respawn timer will be there at release :frowning:

(raib) #205

Even those bots were not stationary all the time. Everyone just moved so slowly I could barely tell.

(Shackahn) #206

I think SD are trying to make this game as accessible as possible to a wide audience, therefore if a spawn timer want included I wouldn’t be surprised.

It would be nice if the spawn timer was available for say stopwatch matches, also the /kill command. For the average player who just wants to frag with some friends and play a decent team based shooter, these features probably aren’t useful.

o_0

Yes they are, it’s one of the many ways Brink uses to push even noobs to team playing, and group spawning really help that.

Thats no problem then, as if they are as important as you are suggesting then they will be included.

I would suggest that /kill and using the spawn timer is slightly more advanced than your average pick up and play FPS player. I would also argue that by not using these features a player would not adversely affect team play. If you listen to Paul Wedgwood then there is no issue with casual players working as a team.

I would like to see these features in the game as well, I was merely trying to show the other side of the coin

(madness) #209

the HUD is already cluttered enough

(Om3ga) #210

I don’t wanna see any ****ing fragers in my team. If you are frager plz, play cs and DO NOT come to brink, whole idea of Brink is doing objects as team.:stroggbanana:

(Shackahn) #211

Sorry, how do you expect to achieve the objectives without killing people?

(.Chris.) #212

Harsh language.

(Om3ga) #213

Fragging means this for me.

Stranger: “65/3, damn i’m good”
Me: “Dude your team didn’t even move from 1st. Spawn.”
Stranger: “Carescore 0, i have better stats than you and it makes me better player than you”
Me: “facepalm”
Etc.

Reason why i play only matches.
Well, i will allow little fragging if ppl are at defence.

(DarkangelUK) #214

Guess it’s lucky “stranger” won’t be able to see his K/D ratio to tell you.

(Humate) #215

Theres a universal ability that SD has been pretty quiet about, its called Wishful Thinking.
If you’re doing the primary objective and you have this ability, it allows you to complete it unscathed. :armadillochase:

(Om3ga) #216

Well, you guys know what i mean, i hope

I don’t understand where you are going. Important or not, spawn timer will be included. Like previous Splash Damage games.

edit : ok, my bad, I didn’t understand you were talking about being able to see the timer even when not dead.

(Om3ga) #218

If they won’t give respawn timer, i guess some1 will create add-on: spawntimer, and eeeeeeeevry1 will get it.

(DarkangelUK) #219

It could show in the score screen when pressing tab… or map screen for consoles etc.

Well, it’s not his mistake his team didn’t win if he has 65/3 in like 20-30 minutes.

Srsly, some people here need to stop bashing so much on killing. It’s ridiculous. Big parts of the game still are about plain killing your enemies. Of course there is more to it, you often need to suicide for the greater good, do stuff that doesn’t involve killing like repairing etc or kill only the one important person out of 5, but in the end, if your team has a substantial amount of more kills, it’ll be more likely to win.
