Need a new Computer to play Quake Wars

(Stalbo) #1

Hello, Just this morning I bought an unopened copy of quake wars for $5, and am most satisfied with my purchase.

Unfortunately, my computer blew itself up, and I need to buy a new one. I am computer illiterate, and have a limited budget.

I found that the following computer seems to be the most powerful from the choices I had, and has some nice reviews. I am curious to know if this computer is compatible with the game.

Here is the link: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Dell+-+Inspiron+Desktop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Pentium%26%23174%3B+Processor+/+4GB+Memory+/+500GB+Hard+Drive/9846086.p?id=1218183110027&skuId=9846086

If not, I would appreciate a suggestion a to what I could buy, but anything over $500 would break my budget for the rest of the year. So, please be gentle with your suggestions.

I only need a tower and a place to put the disk in. I really want to play this game…

Im not sure, but i would say, that this GFX Card cant handle ETQW.
Maybe u can find 100 $ and then u can go for this one: http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-580/pd?oc=ddpcyf51&model_id=inspiron-580
This can handle ETQW pretty decent.

I’ll have to wait another month before I can mass enough $$.

if you guys happen to stumble upon a happy solution that meets my criteria for less dollars, that would be nice.

I want to play this game so bad that I am willing to spend 500 on it. I’m screwed up. haha.

I always buy my electronics from Fry’s. they generally have the best prices and have a better selection of what I am looking for. If you live near one and can make it inside it’s even better. They always have in store sales and a lot of the time you can get great package deals that aren’t advertised.

That pc simply wont run etqw.

(Aristotle) #18

The one I posted? The only real thing it may need is a graphics card, which can be replaced at very little cost to the min required for qw.

(murka) #19

I’d suggest building a pc from selected components. Also i’m quite sure there is something you can salvage from old pc(hdd? dvd drive? psu? case?).
ETQW does need an nvidia/ati gfx card.
The psu on that box will probably not handle the extra gfx card.

I found another gaming computer.

compared to the one from newegg.com, it is nearly identical, but with slightly different stats.

I am going to buy one or the other.

I have decided this much.
