Need a new Computer to play Quake Wars

ETQW does need an nvidia/ati gfx card.
The psu on that box will probably not handle the extra gfx card.
I ran ETQW with a 200 watt psu and a 9800 GX2 for along time. It’ll work fine.
I found another gaming computer.

compared to the one from newegg.com, it is nearly identical, but with slightly different stats.

I am going to buy one or the other.

I have decided this much.
that will work fine

(xTriXxy) #23

not possible.

(Nail) #24

depends on how the supply is rated, power in or power out

(Aristotle) #25

oh it is indeed possible. I ran it like that for about 6-10 months before I bought my Thermaltake 850 black widow.

(xTriXxy) #26

this is power consumption for GPU only.

Minimum power supply for your gx2 is 580w

(Osmosis) #27

I used to use an Athlon 4200+ and an 8600GT OC graphics card. It worked fine.

The $298 bottom level computers currently at Wal-Mart are more powerful than the 4200+. Add a GTS250 or a GTS450 for $130ish and you’re set.

I guarantee I don’t play with the same settings as you do. I also didn’t run Vista.

lol

then try this psu calculator.
simply, not possible. even cheapest, one core processor need 80W+ (not atom)

and there are:
cd roms, fans, hdd, ram, that need power too.

(Stalbo) #30

Well, It was a bit expensive, but I just bought a computer for $550, and it is currently being shipped.

This is a large investment for me, and I look forward to finally playing the game.

This game cost me a grand total of $555.

I’m screwed up

(light_sh4v0r) #31

lol, I hope you get a lot of quality game time out of that, or it’ll have been an expensive adventure

(Nail) #32

meh, about the same price as an Xbox 360, ET:QW and Live for a year, plus he can use it for school, work, and play just about any game available

(Stalbo) #33

Yeah. even if this turns out to be one expensive adventure, this computer will make one really good multi-purpose tool.

I am most satisfied with this purchase.
