I guess because you ran run faster than 30 kph, fall from great heights without dying, and are not slowed down by shooting or being hit :moo:
and how is this outdated then ? it’s unrealistic, yeah…but outdated ? :???:

sigh I know this is Quake and ET so its most likely going to be deathmatch, bunnyhopping, unrealistic, arcadey, get the biggest gun you can and just lay waste, killing madness. I dont like these kind of games that much, and I have nothing against you if you do everyone has their own tastes, but I just find no real thrill in spawning then getting blown to pieces in about 5 seconds by someone whos is just strafe-jumping with a automatic rocket launcher and cant be hit. Unreal tournament is not a fun game to me. But I suppose ET:QW will be like this
Kinda-fanboy warning
ET:QW is not Quake.
ET with Quake’s storyline it is, just as W:ET was ET with Wolfenstein’s storyline. (But I have to admit that RtCW has had a high influence over W:ET gameplay, it was not built from scratch.)
Were you blown up in W:ET that often? Probably from time to time, but not a whole game long. If ET:QW has ET gameplay, it can’t be a frag game like Quake. Probably it’s supported as an add-on mode or is forced by players ignoring all objectives, but it will never be the game’s sole goal if the class based teamplay survives.
lol, are you kidding me? Wolf:ET is definately not like that, so ET:QW wont be like that either.
Well, if you are used to BF*, it could certainly be shocking to encounter a game whose movement code is only modestly broken
no… seriously… if he thinks ET movement is outdated, please let him explain :). Everyone has different opinions on what rocks and what doesn’t
get the biggest gun you can and just lay waste
i find this funny since in W-ET the guns were some of the most balanced weapons i have played with in any game. although each had strengths and weeknesses it was more about what you could do with then rather then one simple being better then the other… with the exeption perhaps of the panzerfaust
in other games i have generaly found that there are guns that are simple better to use or guns have a pretty clear chain of what ones are better then others like in q4

Sniper rifles anyone?
Word. W:ET was the first (good) game where the sniper wasn’t an instant death from the finger-of-god. Yet in the hands of a skilled shot, it is still capable of rape on a massive scale. The difference is that every newbie can’t grab a rifle and go on a rampage. You have to be able to make that follow up shot (or two, or three…). This is good game design because it requires players to improve their skill. “I saw you first” is not a skill.
I don’t care if a .30-06 will take your head clean off your shoulders in real life. Wolf isn’t real and part of it’s fun is the fact that you can take damage and possibly overcome it and defeat your attacker. That spells excitement. Finger-of-god snipers spell slow, boring, stealth-based gameplay where nobody dares to pop their head up, and the first shot always wins.
The difference is that every newbie can’t grab a rifle and go on a rampage
that is pretty much the essance of all the weapons in ET. every gun can be used to some effect by the new players but to get the most out of it you have to practice and learn the guns. also because of this that players are often better with some guns than others because its there own style of play and ET gives players room to do that
comapre this to bf2 were imo there is very little differnace between weapons. its just so frustrating playing sniper when shooting at distance that would give you an advatage with a sniper rifle make the random cone of fire so unlikely to hit its a waste of time. its just all about the prone

I don’t, too… that s why I play RtCW/ET, because skill does make a serious difference, for every weapon (and u know your riflenade skils are good when comp gamers start calling you a noob lol).
Just as an idea for your next thread… get some valid information before starting to post obvious (to everybody who played ET for more than 1 hour) nonsense plz.

Ok sorry, I know this isnt Quake itself gameplay wise but it is Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, theres going to be some quake gameplay influencing this too, not just ET.
i though the quake influence was already in W-ET in regards to the movemnts styles and such. and also the way the game plays also has a similar feel when compared to other games. i gess its just the advantage of having a solid ID engine behind a game
Movement in W:ET is very similar to Quake, just toned down a bit. As for the “Quake” in “Quake Wars,” it doesn’t have to imply anything more than storyline, TBH. Nothing says we have to be constantly flying around like it was Q3CTF4.

As for the ET in Quake Wars, it doesnt have to imply anything more than a name Tbh :).
Im just kidding I know the gameplay is going to be ET. But I would assume that it would have some sort of Quake-ish gameplay since Quake is in the title, but ET is Quake-ish itself so I’m betting it will be like Quake on a larger scale.
Why should we move from class based to shooter? Quake has had it’s influence over ET but it’s certainly not Quake.
Hint to SD: don’t use any more references to other franchise in a new game’s name. It only causes mass confusion as ET is clear enough, IMHO.
Motivation:
People played W:ET.
Some saw ET:QW comming up without Wolfenstein in the name and started yelling “omg, it’s not wolfy anymore!”.
Other people may see quake in the name and expect a new set of rocket launchers combined with ET gameplay. Then they go back to Q3 when it is clear there are no Q3 style rockets.
-And the last group doesn’t like Q3 and thinks we will be riding rockets to unkown amounts of ups, blowing each other up untill inards decorate those new mystique megatextures.
Just my ridiculous point of view. Take in mind that my mind is still messed from trying out the Prey MP.
Luckily, some W:ET games got it back on track again, recovered for 90% now.
I guess it will be somwhere in between all this, influenses from both games in some ways but still have focus on team work and action game play. Still what’s the point of the discussion again? At some point a demo will be released, if you like it, then buy it, if you don’t then move on. It’s very simple really, and taking a stand for a game you haven’t played is just as silly as saying it will be crap. Sure pictures has been released, E3 vids has been available but we just don’t know if the game will be fun until we actually can play it. Until then I’m excited about it, but I reserv myself from going over the top with fanboy’ism or negative comments. Something I think everyone should do.
ooh good idea. can we have aplications for a forum president then have a vote with the majority aplicant winning the title?
Sure, if you want. It’ll be an chiefly symbolic role, but I’ll throw in unlimited access to Bongoboy’s air-powered coffee maker thing, despite the fact that I clearly have no right to do so.
