My complaints about none bots in Quake Wars!

nah, i just hope that this time AAS will not be broken like in ET…
just see how quickly omni-bot for Q4 appeared

i would not bet on AAS

these maps are very big and the way AAS works means that the larger the map the longer it takes to work out a plane route based on wich portals it can travel though. bigger map more portals more calcualtions

also when it has to consider enemy locations an things it has more portals to check, seek cover again

and as far as i am aware there has never been a AAS implamentation that takes into acount drivables

EDIT// just some food for though here… the AAS files are seperate to the BSP… so could we not make a .map into an ET .bsp, then convert to a rtcw .map and make a .bsp file then make a .AAS and use this for the ET map

What’s your idea about the AAS file?

AFAIK, making an AAS file for an RTCW map to use it for ET will never work. ET used a newer version of AAS for which the file specs were never to be released.

I think the answer would be for SD to work with some mod teams to ensure the relevant parts of the code is available to implement bots. Of course this would be after the release and come in patches etc perhaps to open anything that might be necessary.

I see the fun playing with bots. Joint OPs co-op mission were quite fun and had a totally different feel to them from other online games. You really got a sense of commaradery fighting the common enemy. Of course in a week of the maps being out people could run circles round the bots and the maps finished really quickly. But, I can see the appeal.

However for a longer term, MP experience I’m really looking forward to ET:QW in the form SD intends. I appreciate their focus on bulding upon ET to better a game rather than chucking in all and sundry to appease a wider fansbase.

Launching any SP map in BF2 actually creates a CO-OP server. Give your friends your IP and they can join your game.

There is a Co-op MOD out there for BF2, but it’s not great. There is a better one in development and should be out in the next month or so…

And here it is…

Very nice. Thanks for the link.

I have The Regiment running for my current co-op hit.
Red Orchestra out next week has a bot mode and a LAN mode also.
Both very good value for money titles.
