Um, same old England tbh. Defended way too deep so when they did get the ball, they had nowhere to send it other than whack it upfield straight back to the opposition. Saw the Holland vs Sweden game last night and it was easy to see the only real difference was they (Sweden) played much higher up the pitch - Holland were using a 4-3-3 formation abit like the Portugese so it’s a good comparison.

The disallowed goal certainly was a goal imo, and to me, it looked like the host nation were getting some ‘special’ help. They aren’t a really good team and although they certainly appeared to have the run of the game, that was more down to our deep defending that anything else.

I’m sick of all the hype that surrounds England in these matches - they aren’t that good, never were and have proved it by messing up probably the best chance any of them had to win a major trophy for their country that’ll present itself in a long, long time.

As for the Scots and the Irish never supporting us, well it just goes to show why we had to spank their arses over and over in the past - but it’s the mentaliltiy more than anything that makes me laugh; - hey, look, if we combine our national teams into one and play as GB, we have quite a good team with all those missing bits and pieces to our game… - no, don’t be stupid, we need to play with our own colours and never progress beyond the first round of any major competition (assuming we qualify in the first place) - that’s the way it’s to be done…

I was over in the States last year for the summer, don’t get me wrong, but you do have some incredibly stupid people out there, but I think they vastly out-weigh the number of smarties.
Anyway, yeah, last year, we went into this shop just to get some ice-cream, and one of us wanted to get some orange juice aswell… the girl at the counter had no clue what orange juice was, and by clue I mean the word orange, should at least give some clue ya think? She went back into the kitchen and asked the girl back there, she didn’t have an idea either. Ummm, to the guy who was talking about the education system, mate, you have it backwards. Nearly every city in the U.K. has it’s own University. I don’t know if that’s the case in the U.S. but if you say you have more, yes, you probably do, you know why? More stupid people maybe? Lol, no, sorry, of course University is for the people to learn more about their desired subject. Also, please work out the ratio of Universities to population if you want to make a broad sweeping generalisation such as that. P.S. I’m not going to comment about the militaries, because to be honest Britain pretty much relies on the U.S. for their military technology at the moment, which I do disagree with, there’s much unemployment over here and people could do with those jobs.

Also, not going to comment on the economies as the U.S. has had an unfortunate spate recently.

I specifically mentioned that the U.S. OUTSMARTED the English, our military at that time was NOT nearly as strong as our oppressors. The U.S. has currently 5,758 universities in its borders. No European country besides Spain and France even appear on the list (lowest overall country appearing is China with 1, 054.) The united states population is around 278,000,000. The UK’s population is 60,000,000. The Uk has approximately 1/5 of the # of residents as the U.S. Before, someone used an argument of population/# of universities, and implied that the UK would hold a lower ratio. (A lower ration would mean that country had more universities per person) However, assuming the UK has 1,053 universities, 1 less than the last place holder on the statistic I mentioned previously, the UK would have a population/# of universities ration of 56980, or for every 56,980 people in the UK, there is one university. The U.S. would have a ratio of 48,280. This lower ratio proves that the number of universities per person in the U.S. is greater than that of the UK.

The discretion between literacy rates is confusing. I’ve seen different figures for the U.S. (One figure saying 97% of the population 15 years + was literate, another saying 99%) I found a figure on the UK stating 99% of the population was literate. The discretion of 2% is within the margain of error, so I believe this point to hold less weight because of this. Even if the literacy rate was say, the average of the two figures (98%), it is still only 1% off of the literacy rate I have found for the UK.

You would most likely be dead without our help from war. Hitler would have continued to push the lines, both east and west, until he conquered England. There is a story about Sword beach. (which was “attacked” by the british) Every tank made except one made it to the beach, giving them superior firepower. The night previous, allied airforces had destroyed the bunker emplacements on the Atlantic wall. Guess what the English wanted to do when they landed? They wished to have some tea…No need to push forward to help our fellow troops, lets sit down here with our kettles and relax. Never mind the “yanks” on Omaha getting slaughtered like cattle because the vast majority of emplaced guns were left intact after the allied airstrike. Or that only one tank made it to the beach. But damned if that would stop the “stupid” americans. Those men ran 200 yards of hell to the seawall, blowing up barbed wire and bunkers while under heavy fire. The allied destroyers at sea risked running their ships aground to give valuable support to the troops being mown down by heavy gun emplacements. The sea ran red with blood for 3 days because those “stupid” americans didn’t give up, selflessly risking their lives so that they could establish a link between Utah and the other beaches. But, in the end, I guess having tea is a bit better than going back into the fight again, eh?
