So, I was watching Portugal VS England on a coffe house with some friends, we went to celebrate after the game was over. (portugal should have won 2-1 tbh :P)

There I was in the subway, about 1 hour later. Lots of Portuguese folks on the subway, screaming and all, then some english dudes pop in. I thought, man there’s gonna be some arse kicked. Well, wtf  We all complimented and hugged each other, the english guys starting singing PORTUGAL ALLEZ ALLEZ, and we all were singing and talking until we needed to switch subway line. Some swedish adepts joined in, congratulated Portugal and stuff, then one of us draws a joint from the pocket. Swedish guys were like DA! DA! or something, and all of us (swedish people, english people, portuguese people) ended up smoking two big cannons near the train station after the subway exit

portugal should have won 2-1 tbh

…hey, are you that referee? :bash:

re: your portugal 2:1 crap

i’m scottish, i hate english people. i want them to lose.

it should have been 2:1 to england, there was a quite obvious goal that the swiss referee (bitter about the england-switzerland game maybe?!?!?) decided wasn’t actually going to be a goal despite no obvious infringement.

(blushing_bride) #4

i think you’ll find that the ref was actually a member of the portuguese team

(digibob) #5

Certainly seemed that way…

And i’m scottish too, and also think it should have been 2-1 england.

it was a foul on the goalkeeper that nulled england’s goal, and it was pretty obvious (2 of them didn’t let Ricardo jump…).
Other than that, Portugal dominated the game all the time and england scored early due to a bad move by Costinha… I didn’t see england playing for awhile, seems to me all they can do is shoot long balls and hope it lands on the right spot. Portugal built the game and scored 2 nice goals. The referee was playing for portugal? lol. We even got yellow cards for british players throwing themselves at the ground without any contact.

Don’t know where is the news tho, 'twas the same on Euro 2000 (referee too back then? lol).

But anyway, I posted this to share how people from 3 countries 2 of which had just played a match got along so well.

Yeah, must be the ref. :blah:

Hmm,considering how lucky their team were tonight, you would think the Portugese supporters be more gracious.
But all I’ve seen on ET servers is comments how they ‘owned’ the English team.
Names like ‘England Go Home’ who was teamkilling with a flamer, and comments like " we owned you" make the Portugese supporters look a little childlike.
But because its 3.30 am atm these comments must be coming from adult Portugese gameplayers.
Its a funny old world

All this euro cup talk is jibberish to us in the west :frowning:

i will never understand the passion for this silly game

why cant you guys watch a nice, normal game like curling?

(Vaibhav) #11

the refree ruined it

Back to the Original Story - Man thats cool sounds like the Ganja Kru brought everyonbe together!

(Wils) #13

What game were you watching?

Ricardo mistimed his jump after landing from the first attempted save - he wasn’t gonna get up there regardless, and certainly wouldn’t have stopped the header going in.

I can never understand scottish always supporting the team playing england, found it embarrasing trying to explain to international students at uni, who were totally taken aback by it

Like the Scots above, being Irish I had no real desire to see the English win that game, but England were definitely robbed by that referee man. Ok Portugal may have played better football for most of the game, but in the end it comes down to goals - and if that ref wasn’t such a cock-knockin’ Swiss walkover (umm, what did Switzerland do in the war hehe??), England would be in the Semis now. There was no foul on the keeper. The ref actually said he disallowed it because of a push, remember? I didn’t see Terry pushing anybody. There was no push. The keeper had no chance of getting to that ball - Terry was only trying to score, ffs Campbell had to jump over the top of him to put it in - it was a definitely a clean goal. I don’t know how you can come and peddle that shit here.

O and why don’t you fix your frickin’ pitches too :stuck_out_tongue:

england deserved to win, they came back in silver goal, that’s not easy…

I’m swedish though so I’m neutral but to all brits here, COME ON, don’t you have a better keeper than that fucking retard David James???

he annoys me like hell, he makes so easy mistakes and one other thing, he is ALWAYS standing on his legs when the opponents score, it’s like he doesn’t even react!

poor beckham though, felt sorry for him, but to those who say portugal owned england, you obviously know shit about football, owning a team includes scoring which portugal is miserable at, english team should have creds for outstanding defense, too bad they pulled back after 3 minutes though :frowning:

(BondyBoy007) #18

everybody thinks the same about james, dodgy as hell and always has been but the golie is not a glamorous position for youngsters to take up and so england only have a choice of three keepers
