Probably most of you have experienced newbies doing incredible stupid/funny things, well, let this thread be a “Best-Of” collection :smiley:

OK, the map was fueldump, the wall breached, west gate razed, I’m a medic running befind an Engineer through the westgate, to the back of the FuelDump (good), to the east gate (WTF?) and he plants his Dyna at the inside of the east gate! LOL, of course he was a low level Eng.and had no energy left to plant another Dyna at FuelDump :bash:
Obviously we got killed by the Axis arriving and had to start all over again. By the way, his name was CLANMASTER :smiley:

also on Fuel Dump, the new guy who could tell that the guys in grey were axis and therefore his TEAMMATES. Fortunately, he also hadn’t figured out that the MG42 in the standing position was terrible, so never hit any friendlies. See, two wrongs do make a right.

Then there is always the profusion of SMG totting soldiers

fuel dump, again :blah: , i had snuk in, in a 3 v 3 game, without being noticed, with an engineer.
(i was covert)
he planted mine, and ran off. i told him in team chat to use his plier, and the n00b ran away and started using his pliers in mid air.

after 5 mins of frantic being ignored, the enemy team worked out why their was only 1 person attacking them, and so i disconnected

I can’t fault someone too much for not knowing maps on a new game but here’s some of the stuff that drives me nuts.

Meds who try to revive corpses and/or ignore their compasses.

Field Ops who won’t give ammo.

Covert Ops who F1 when they get mistakenly TKed particularly after you revive and heal them.

Engineers who repair unnecessary items for points.

Panzers who can’t keep from gloating about their supposed marksmanship skills.

Personally, I don’t think it’s as obvious in ET where shots are coming from. I get shot from all sorts of directions sometimes and can’t tell which direction they’re coming from. I’m sure this is more apparent in vanilla Wolfie.

And “medics who try to revive corpses”? I do that all the time, it’s called the “Mysterious Tapout bug” :confused:

Yeah, I reconsidered that one and even removed it. What really hurts though is when they realize it and don’t v14 to give others a heads up they are gonna be dogmeat.

That’s not what I’m talking about. I’m referring to those who don’t yet realize there’s a revive icon over the bodies they can actually revive. It’s really hilarious to spec someone who goes around poking all the corpses - even those of the enemy.

BTW, there are also those who do tap out just before a med gets to them. It happened in RTCW and I’m sure it happens here as well. It’s one reason why I prefer LLTL to ULTL.

Yeah in Fuel Dump, axis engy runs out from spawn and builds the dump defenses, of course with an allied engineer inside!! I’ve seen that one a few times, cracks me up every time.

OOPS … disleyia on da pb_power # and ya kick one of the guys who pays for the server instead of the the kid that just told ya to FO… damn (sry CourtJester I know ya was one point from double panzers too)

I don’t recall what map it was and it doesn’t really matter. Some guy, upon spawn rushed out and shot at everyone. I do mean everyone - if it moved, he shot it. After he killed me, a teammate, I sent a teamchat - “<guy’s name>… this isn’t a deathmatch”. He stopped for a moment and chatted back - “oh sorry”. I don’t recall seeing him again so I guess he wasn’t particularly annoying otherwise.

On Gold Rush we had a newbie who would constantly kill disguised Covert Ops no matter what. I was disguised and sitting in the gold room. I waited until everyone was gone and snatched the gold. About 2 feet away from the truck the same newbie mows me down and the gold gets returned.

Another time on Railgun, we were playing Allies and had 4 minutes left in the game. They had the ammo loaded on the second train and were coming towards the Railgun. I had already destroyed the controls so I quickly planted some landmines in front of the ladder. I then watched in amazement as one of my own teammates intentionally ran over the landmines so that he could climb up the ladder!

Then there were the dozens of times when I called for a vote to kick an AFK (away from keyboard) player. The same player that had not moved an inch in the entire game would ask “Why kick me?” and return to his state of dormancy.

Idiots who complain for running into your airstrikes. Then you get kicked. Same with the mine issue.

i was a dressed covert ops on seawall battery… i was running from the beach to the back door

a n00b pops a few shots at me… i voice say im a covert ops… he pauses for a few seconds then unloads on me… killing me

oh here’s another one… on rail gun i drove the train to the deopt… loaded the weapon, drove it back… loaded it… and fired it… all by myself on a 20 person server

a whole server full of n00bs that dont know what to do :frowning:

On fueldump, we managed to get the tank far enough to blow the tunnel, as a covert I was lucky enough to get to it with some smoke for defence, and even more lucky to find and kill an axis on route to the fueldepot. I got in, went to the top and saw that the axis had already built the depot defences, so in team chat I asked for an engineer to sneak though the tunnel and meet me so I could let him in and blow the depot while the tank was still on our side of the not yet constructed bridge.

Who should arrive was another teammate covert, not in axis uniform, and in hindsight, I shouldnt have let him in the base, but I did, and he in turn decides to blow the defences with a satchel pack. I told him not to, but it was too late. The axis were alerted, and a few came running back, killed him, and then decided to hunt around, and shure enough… found me hiding. Obviously no need to blow the defences with our team not even close to blowing the gate and no other team support in sight.

A good chance of winning the game but it was over. And you only get a few chances of the covert/engineer manouver in the begining of the fueldepot to begin with. gg overzealous teammate! :bash:

Today, there was the guy who took the gold from the bank on Goldrush, proceeded to run past the truck with the glowing red boxes (only one left so you could see there was another box already in the truck), and up the stairs towards the allied spawn. Then, he proceeded to file a complaint when I tk’d him to take the boxes back down to the truck. Of course, he tapped out before I could revive him

I got a few…

1.) Im a friendly covert ops and and i grab a uniform in Fuel Dump. Grate was blown, and i was inside axis base, by door. I say in teamspeak "Im inside axis base, i need an engineer. So i hear a rattling at the door, say, “IM OPENING THE DOOR NOW!!”, open it, and an allied engineer is standing with an allied panzer. Panzer charges up and blows us all away. I couldnt stop laughing.

2.)In Battery, im axis, a covert ops with a K43, and stafe jumping down to the rocks. No one sees me, im in position on a rock, and start picking off an enemy. After about 2 minutes of sniping, im out of ammo. Right behind me at the exact second, i hear a splash, and some allied jumps up, and starts shooting at me. I jump up from prone (This guy’s aim was atrocious, luckily) and accidently hit the key bound to my knife. The other guy (I hope) mistakinly hits his “Prone” key, and i bend over once and knife him in the back.

3.) Fuel dump, im axis, and i think i was an engineer :confused: Anyways, im hoping along after mowing about 5 people down with an mp-40, i quickly check my six, then turn back quickly. AT THAT EXACT SAME MOMENT, A PANZER BOLT HITS MY FACE! OMG, IT ALMOST MADE ME JUMP RIGHT OFF MY CHAIR!! It was a teammate who said my name didnt come up right away.

the worst thing that has happened was n00bs running of mines i plant…hmm so i look and see there are way to many enginers…so i got medic and low-and-be-hold the same idiots are still running over mines…hahaha so before i can revive them BOOM they just so happen to hit the damn space bar jezzzzzz…

just today on Battery, an axis opens the side door lets me in (alllies) realizes I’m an enemy, opens the door again runs out throws a gernade and then the door closes and he is killed by his own gernade while trying to open the door again…a covert ops on the other side takes his uniform opens the door, he leads the way, in the meantime the same axis respawns runs past the covert ops (in disguise) opens the back door again runs out, and when he runs back in he is met with my knife. I barely moved for about 2-3 minutes, just watched the axis running back and forth…a few times right past me.

my favourite noob question:

“how can you tell who are the bad guys”

hmmm I guess he skipped history class when they did ww2

That’s actually even dumber than you make it sound, because when you grab the gold, you lose your uniform. So your teammate killed you even though you were quite obviously on his team. That’s a good time to hit F1, in my opinion.

I don’t usually like to crack the wise at new players, but I have been killed on more than one occassion by a rather inquisitive fellow who stares slack-jawed as I steal an enemy uniform.

I look at him.

He looks at me.

Blink.

Obviously the big red DO NOT SHOOT symbol was obscured by the pure hate in his eyes. I believe this to be a virus of some kind, as it’s happened to me at least twenty times since ET has been released. It’s an epidemic.

First off, My favorite newb question is: “How do I punch windows?”

Okay, the funniest thing I have seen was when I was watching my friend Shizadow play as an axis engineer on fueldump. He had constructed the defenses and all that stuff and was putting down mines. A newbie team mate comes over to him to inspect what he is doing, as he is walking over to him he steps on one of the little red flags. The guy just stands there for a second. Then you see the dumbass bend down to look at what the hell is hissing and letting out all that smoke. Then he obviously recognizes it because he quickly jumps off of it and gets his ass blown to hell. Of course he got a team kill for it, but it was worth it.
